Pita Pizza Recipe

I love thin crust pizza and I have tried so many times to create a healthy one.  The only problem I encountered was trying to create a dough that didn’t taste so bland.  It just hit me one day to just use whole wheat pita bread!  It is so simple and easy to make especially if you have kids this is such a fast and yummy meal they will love.  Oh, and let’s not forget that it is healthy for you unlike regular pizza!

Whole Wheat Pita Bread
Canned Tomato Sauce ( Basil, Garlic, and Oregano seasoned)
Fat free mozzarella
Lean Turkey Sausage
Pita Pizza

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees while that is heating up place the whole wheat pita breads on a foiled flat pan.  Remember to place the pita with its curved shaped on the bottom of the pan so it looks like a little bowl shape. Turn your stove on to a medium heat and cut up slices of turkey sausage that you will use for the pizza (I used around seven slices for each pizza).  Spray the pan with non stick spray and cook the sausage on the pan til they are brown around the edges.  Add a small amount of canned tomato sauce to the pita bread and then add 1/4 cup of cheese to the pizza.   Add the cooked slices of turkey sausage to the pie.  Then place it in the oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is browned around the edges.  Then pop the pie out and eat it as a snack with one slice or gulp the whole thing!
