Happy Friday Everyone!
I am so happy that I finally have a day off! Last week I switched my hours at work so I am able to now get every other Friday off. It’s not so fun having to go in an hour earlier each day and work for 9 hours, but I enjoy having this three day weekend.
I haven’t done a favorites post in awhile, so I thought I would show you a couple of my new favorite makeup products!
M.A.C Eye Shadows natural palette :
This past month, I have really been enjoying my M.A.C Eye Shadows. I sort of go in and out of touch with them because I have so many other brands of shadows and so many palettes that I tend to forget about them. However, this month I actually filled up my first neutrals palette, and I have been reaching for it every day.
I really want to expand my collection of M.A.C eye shadows, but with shades I will actually use, you won’t see any crazy blues or greens in this collection 🙂
Benefit POREfessional primer:
I have a new foundation primer favorite this month, and it is the Benefit POREfessional primer.
This primer claims to reduce the appearance of pores, while also being oil free.
I’ve become more and more aware that I have pretty large pores around my nose, and this primer has done an excellent job of minimizing them and making my foundation stay even.
This is something I will definitely repurchase as soon as it’s gone, and that says something because I’ve never repurchased a foundation primer, I’m always switching.
Bare Minerals Matte in golden fair :
I don’t always feel the need to wear a heavy liquid foundation, especially when it’s warmer out and my skin tends to get a bit more oily. I have a few other powder foundations, but I feel like none of them just blend with my skin and look natural.
I purchased Bare Minerals Matte awhile back to use as a setting powder, but I have actually grown to love it as a foundation all on it’s own. I still apply my normal primer and concealer, but then instead of layering a liquid foundation on top, I just take a big fluffy kabuki brush and buff it into the skin.
This does a really great job at absorbing oils while still looking like you put a lot of effort into perfecting your skin.
YSL Rouge Volupte ultimate beige :
I am not usually a lipstick person, I find that most of the time the product just cakes up on my lips and makes me feel uncomfortable. I do love my MAC lipsticks, but in hindsight I wish that I didn’t really purchase as many as I did (I have about 20 of them).
Just when I was about to completely give up on lipstick, I discovered YSL Rouge Volupte’s and I am absolutely in love. I actually found the color that I want to wear for my wedding, and that’s Ultimate Beige.
This is the perfect “my lips but better” shade, and I find myself reaching for it nearly every day. Instead of feeling cakey or dry, the Rouge Voluptes are much more moisturizing, and they fade naturally to leave a nice stain that still looks beautiful. I definitely want to purchase more of these, when I can suck it up to pay the $34 price tag.
MAC my lips but better blush :
I have two blush favorites this month, the first one is a new one I picked up from MAC, and this is Fleur Power. This is just a really amazing brighter pink, but it has hints of coral. I think this looks great with any eye look. You can lightly dust it on your cheeks for a natural flush, or build it up a little for some drama!
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral :
My second blush favorite is Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral.
This is a more orange toned coral, which is really flattering on tanned skin.
I’ll admit, I did the spray tan thing, but it’s around $25 to do one session, and it only lasts for a few days. I want to be tan all the time, and with a full time job I have no time to be touching up my self tanner or the desire to spend all that money on spray tans. So I am fake baking a little! 🙂
These blushes are really great for a subtle flush of color, but if you’re looking for something that’s going to give off more color payoff, you may want to steer clear of these. Especially if you are darker skinned, these have a 1% chance of even showing up at all.
My first eye favorite of the month is the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow in Bad to the Bronze.
I have been loving this color just to sweep across the lid and then add a little brown gel liner and go.
It’s very flattering, especially with my blue eyes. It looks like I put way more effort into my makeup than I actually did.
I just take this with a dense fluffy brush, this is one of Sigma’s Precision brushes, and just pack it onto the lid. I still wear a primer underneath to prevent any creasing, and I dust a very little amount of any gold toned shadow on top to set the cream eye shadow.
Buxom eyeliner in Suede :
MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush :
I have recently discovered my love for brown eyeliner. It’s so much more flattering for day-wear, and looks a lot softer with blue eyes. I have had this liner for awhile, but never touched it. Now, it’s become a part of my daily routine. This holy grail product would be Buxom’s liner in Suede. As you can see, it’s a very deep brown, but that absence of black makes it so much softer and more wearable.
In a recent haul, I picked up MAC’s Cream Colour Base in Hush, and it has quickly become my new holy grail highlighter. I absolutely love the sheen that it gives, it is so natural and I am just stunned by the beauty of it!
This is another item I am adding to the wedding makeup list. I think this would be amazing in photographs because it allows the light to hit you naturally, revealing a soft and subtle glow, rather than most chunky highlighters that tend to look white, glittery or chalky. Highly recommend!
