LT Pro Translucent Powder Review – Glam Radar

by Jane · April 21, 2015

I keep getting requests to do a review on the LT Pro Translucent Powder that I’ve been using for approximately a couple of months now. I’m afraid this product can only be purchased in Indonesia. LT Pro is the child brand of La Tulipe Cosmetics. They have this “professional makeup” image but their products are mostly affordable.

I think LT Pro and PAC Cosmetics are great alternatives if you live in Indonesia and can’t justify splurging on overpriced imported drugstore makeup. My mom and I have tried a few products from both brands and so far we’re not yet disappointed.

Price: Rp 75.000-90.000 per 1.06oz / 30 g jar depending on where you buy it (international readers: that’s not more than US$9)

Shades: Clair (fair), Mauve (medium, beige undertone), Ochre (medium, yellow undertone), and Ombre (medium-dark, yellow undertone).

I know what you think! Yes, it has only four shades available. BUT! Because the powder actually is translucent, it’s not a big deal if you can’t find an exact color match for your skintone. Ochre is certainly lighter on me but a few minutes after application the color blends to my natural skin tones. So if you’re torn between two shades, I’d suggest getting the lighter one just in case it also oxidize on you.

Texture: very nice and creamy, not chalky at all although sometimes it can get a little dusty when I apply it on my face. I need to hold my breath to avoid inhaling the powder.

Scent: pretty strong floral scent. Not really a big deal for me because the scent doesn’t linger but it might be off-putting for some.

Coverage: very sheer!

Finish: matte and can look cakey on top of liquid foundation. If you’re going to use it alone, I don’t think there’s going to be any problem as long as you moisturize your skin first.

Oil control: Not so amazing although not as bad as my Maybelline Clearsmooth (which lasts only an hour on me – pfft!). This powder keeps my oilies at bay for about four hours. If your skin is VERY oily, I think it would last less longer.

Application: I use the mineral foundation application method to apply it. I’d put the powder on the lid, swirl my ELF Studio Powder Brush on it, tap the excess and apply it on my face. Easy peasy.

What I like about this powder:

  • affordable
  • excellent as finishing powder; gives beautiful finish/not chalky-looking
  • great amount of product for such price AND a little goes a long way
  • sturdy packaging
  • doesn’t break me out
  • available locally

What I don’t like about this powder:

  • scent is too strong
  • it oxidizes and turns dark (even though it’s not that bad, I’ve experienced worst)
  • oil control is so-so (might be more suitable for people with dry skin)
  • can settle into fine lines if I put too much

In conclusion, this product is well worth the price but don’t expect too much! I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it as I want to try other powders. If you’re interested to buy it, I’d suggest going to a cosmetics/salon supplier stores instead of the mall because it’s cheaper there.

For Indonesian readers who happen to have tried this powder too, what do you think about it? Likey? No likey? Do share! 😉
