Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Review
Being a beauty blogger has many perks besides the obvious, one of those being that sometimes you try products simply because they’re put in front of you. On occasion I even fall in love with something that I would never have investigated as a regular consumer. Cleansing oil is one of the products.
The idea of a cleansing oil felt like a confused concept to me – how is an oil cleansing? When I received a tiny little bottle of Shu Uemura’s cleansing oil for review I was curious yet doubtful. Surprisingly this was a product that I fell in love with immediately. For one, my skin is too dry to handle foaming or gel cleansers – they make me feel stripped and dehydrated. I tend to favour rich, creamy cleansers although sometimes (particularly in the hot months) they just don’t make my skin feel clean.
The oil worked quickly to dissolve the makeup on my skin and washed off whilst keeping my skin hydrated. No wonder it’s listed as one of the brand’s best selling products, it’s possibly one of the most well-known skin care products around! The range contains several formulations, I have been using the High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil.Pink Sith provides a great break down of the other formulations.
To use a the Shu Uemura cleansing oil, just follow these simple steps:
- Press down 3-4 times of the oil pump
- Massage onto dry skin
- Apply a small amountof water to emulsify
- Rinse clean
Oil based cleansers are particularly effective if you wear heavy-duty longwear foundation (such as Estee Lauder Double Wear or Revlon Colour Stay) and have trouble removing it, or if you wear a sunscreen that’s tough to remove. Or perhaps you might just have dry skin and enjoy a more gentle cleansing product.
I loved my sample so much I went out and purchased a full bottle…and I haven’t looked back. This is a product I won’t be without.
