FRIDAY NIGHT FAKE HAIR!
I have a confession to make….I love fake hair. I wish I could wear wigs and no-one would stare at me because I think hair, unlike clothes, can completely transform your personality and the way you see yourself. I had been a long term fan of clip-in extensions until one day I decided to go blonde so subsequently, threw them all in the bin! I would never wear them a lot-just for a night out and never more than once a week because the clips can be really bad for your hair (it pulls the hair at the root….I have had SO many friends with bald patches; my worst nightmare!).
I was in Belfast on Thursday and called into a hairdressing shop on Bridge Street (there is also one up the side entrance of Primark). The shop is connected to the Hair Traffic salon and sells everything from shampoo to wigs to hairdryers. I’ve always bought stuff from this shop as I feel it tends to be good value for money. Since recently dying my hair back dark, I had really missed my extensions as I dream that I’ll have hair like Kim Kardashian one day! I was looking through their selection of extensions when I saw a hair piece that looked perfect for me-super long, shiny and like it had just been big blowdryed. It is essentially, a half wig. I was familiar with them as many of my friends in the theatre world would use them for performances in order to save styling and damage of their own hair. It fits on to the crown of your head so only the front portion of your hair is exposed. It is better if you do something to cover the top of the piece e.g. put the front of your hair in a beehive or slick it back. It isn’t real hair but I find that okay-I just give it a brush through with my Tangle Teezer and away I go. It cost £19.99 and I think is great value for money for such a large hair piece. It is quite heavy so obviously it isn’t for long term wear but for a change for a wedding, night out or generally just for a bit of fun, it’s perfect!
I wore my hair piece last night to a wedding party along with a black body con from Topshop (£15 in the sale!) and lots of red lippy! I am also wearing Kardashian Glamour Tan which I have fallen in love with-probably the easiest to apply tan ever with a great natural colour!
What do you think-fake or fun?
