French Toast Casserole topped with a Caramel Maple Syrup

I was so excited to make this french toast because I was finally going to make my very first loaf of brioche bread.  I was scared to do this at first but I always had a backup plan since there is an amazing french bakery right near by.  But thank God it worked out well and the house smelled liked buttery brioche goodness.  Made my heart just melt, my eyes fall in love, and my mouth to salivate.  Luckily for me I slapped myself out of brioche trance and got to work.  For the bread I got the recipe from this website and it worked well for me (http://breadmakingblog.breadexperience.com/2008/08/making-brioche-rich-no-knead-bread.html).  If you have your own recipe it will work just fine all you need is a loaf of brioche bread.  Hope all of you enjoy this recipe and make it some day it was to die for!

What You Need To Do
Grab your loaf of brioche and break it into chunks and place it in a large casserole dish.  Whisk together the  egg yolks, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract.  Pour the mixture into the dish and cover it with plastic wrap.  Refrigerate the dish overnight so all that yummy cream can soak itself into the bread.  Wake yourself up the next morning, do some stretches, and brush your teeth.  No one likes morning breath especially your pets if you have any.  Now go preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Take the dish out of the refrigerator and uncover it.  You are going to make the topping for it now by mixing together all of the french toast topping ingredients minus the powdered sugar.  Don’t get scared and dig into this mixture with your has and mix it well.  Then sprinkle it on top of brioche bread and place it in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.  While that is baking in the oven you are going to make your caramel maple syrup.  Place a small pot on the stove that has been heated to medium high heat.  Melt the butter, brown sugar, and salt together until the sugar has dissolved.  Then lower the heat to medium heat and add the maple syrup, bring it to a boil for about 3 minutes continuously stirring.  Let it keeping boiling for another 2 minutes and then remove it from the heat.  Pour it into a jar and let it cool completely.  Now it is time to check up on your french toast that is baking in the oven.  When it is done cooking take it out of the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.  Then garnish the top with some powdered sugar.  Scoop up a heaping plateful of french toast and then pour that caramel maple syrup on top and fall into an amazing sugar coma trance.
