Eve Lom Cleanser Review

Hi there pretty ladies! here is my Eve Lom Cleanser Review!

I’ve been meaning to do a review of the Eve Lom Cleanser for a while, but I wanted to make sure I gave it a red hot go before saying anything – good or bad. I’ve given this product a month and a half to prove its worth, and let me tell you – it has.

I don’t know if it’s enough for me to call it “the best cleanser ever” (a title that has been bestowed on it by the gods at Vogue Magazine) but it’s pretty damn good.

So, what does it claim to do? According to the website:
With a powerful blend of Egyptian chamomile, hops, clove and eucalyptus oil, together with cocoa butter the Eve Lom Cleanser cleanses, tones, exfoliates all in one. Even the most stubborn make-up and eye make-up will be removed.

The specially woven muslin cloth (100% cotton) is used with the Cleanser to improve skin circulation while cleansing and exfoliating the skin in minutes. The result is clean, perfectly balanced skin and a radiant complexion. Suitable for all skin types.

Here’s my review:

Firstly, how do I use it?
It comes with directions and “exercises” that I’m told are quite helpful especially if you have really congested skin. Mine isn’t that bad (and hasn’t been lately, thank god) so I don’t do them.

What I do though, apply it in circular motions to dry skin. Around the eye area, but not over the eyes (I use a separate eye makeup remover to get rid of my eye makeup). Then I wet the muslin cloth under hot water in my skin, wring it out and apply it to my face for 5 seconds. I do this 3 times. Then after the 3rd time, I wet it, wring it out, and apply it to my face in circular motions until I’ve wiped all of the cleanser off. I usually wet it again (5th time?) and go over my face again. Then, I wet the muslin cloth with cold water and go over my face one last time.

Also sometimes, I’ll wash my face with another cleanser before using theEve Lom Cleanser when I want it extra-super-duper-squeaky clean.

I know, it sounds like a lot but I like the ritual aspect of it.

How long does it last?
I’ve had mine since mid-December and it’s February now, so I’ve done pretty well – I’ve only taken maybe 1cm off the top of the tub. Here’s a pic:

Does it do what it says?
Essentially, yes. It is a superbly effective cleanser.

It cleanses and tones, yes. It doesn’t do an amazing job of exfoliating – I find I need another product to exfoliate, but because the Eve Lom Cleanser does already exfoliate a little, I find I don’t need another product as often. So that’s good.

I said above that sometimes I use another cleanser before the Eve Lom. That’s not a reflection on the effectiveness of the cleanser, it’s just when I want a really deep cleanse. I also find that I need another cleanser handy because I only use the Eve Lom once a day, in the evenings. So if I want to clean it again in the shower when I wake up, I use another one. Right now it’s Aesop Fabulous Face Cleanser but I’m trialling a Ren one soon so I’ll let you know how that goes.

What I love – and I said this above – is the ritual aspect. Finding 10 minutes when I’m alone and giving myself a DIY facial is probably the most relaxing part in my day and I find myself looking forward to it.

I also love that I don’t need a moisturiser after using it. It doesn’t strip my skin of all its oils and natural moisture. It just leaves it feeling clean and fresh.

You can buy Eve Lom’s Cleanser at Mecca Cosmetica for $68.00 – $186.00, depending on the size you get. Muslin cloth comes included. Alternatively, you can pick it up from the Eve Lom UK Website for significantly cheaper.
