1. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo – I have tried a few dry shampoos over the past year and have always been left wondering “what is wrong with me??” I never seem to get the volume and fresh feeling dry shampoos claim to offer. I end up washing my hair much more than I’d like to and get into a vicious cycle of greasy hair. TRESemme was one of the worst offenders, but in general, no other product was a winner in my eyes either. That is until I picked up Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. This product has a pretty strong smell, and I have heard others complaining…but I don’t mind it really. I actually like the smell! It is one of the only dry shampoos I have found that does seem to soak up a bit of oil from my unwashed hair and give a small dose of volume. The best part is that it doesn’t give a powdery look on my dark hair!
3. L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Multi-Restorative Dry Oil – I picked this up pretty recently and was blown away with how soft it made my hair feel. Just a few sprays while my hair was still damp left my hair feeling amazing! It absorbs quickly and adds shine all while adding much need moisture to my dry hair. I know hair oils are very popular nowadays and I am just upset I waited so long to jump on the bandwagon.
4. Garnier Fructis Style XXL Body Thickening Mousse – When I wear my hair down I often feel like it falls flat throughout the day. A combination of the weather and my greasy roots always leaves me feeling like my hair needs a pick me up to look anywhere near decent at the end of a long day. Garnier’s Thickening Mousse adds just the right amount of texture and oomph when applied correctly. I only use it on my roots before I blow dry and I instantly get long-lasting volume. It lasts all day and doesn’t make my hair feel dirty. It is much more potent than I would have ever expected when I first picked it up.
5. Vidal Sasson Foaming Air Mousse – I only chose to go with this mousse when I couldn’t find the above product in the drugstore I was in. I was a little hesitant but I love trying stuff out, so I decided to give it a try. Bad news – it is nothing like Garnier’s Thickening Mousse. Good news – it is great in a completely different way! First off, this stuff smells amazing and gives you an instant fresh feeling when used on both wet and dry hair. When used on wet hair before styling it adds a nice amount of natural looking body throughout strands. If you use it on dry hair, you get a little bit of texture. I love to use it with dry shampoo on the second day! It doesn’t give you as much volume at the roots like Garnier, but it does work as a really nice styling agent if you just want bounce.
