You may have seen in my latest collective haul that I went a little crazy on the lipstick front. One that I bought was by Collection – a well known high street brand which I normally absolutely love. Their prices are low but the standards are high. When I bought this shade, I was looking for a dupe for MAC – Rebel. I thought it was a perfect shade for the Autumn and Winter months, but I probably could have got a closer shade to it than this one.
Like I have said, I’m normally very impressed with Collection. I am a little unimpressed with this particular lipstick. The name “Deluxe” to me sounds amazing. Deluxe always means better – meaning better staying power, better colour, better application, etc.. Or maybe that is just me. I thought that it would just be a better lipstick than the standard one, but maybe I really do not know the meaning of the word! This cost £3.99, so it really isn’t expensive, but when you can buy MUA lipsticks for £1 that could possibly do a better job, there is a reason to complain.
The staying power wasn’t great. I applied this first for a night out, by the time I’d gotten out and had my first drink, the colour had started to wash, which I thought may be down to a bad application, but since trying again I’ve noticed that it maybe isn’t just my bad lipstick skills and it may actually just be the lipstick which isn’t amazing. I would maybe say you could get 2-3 hours out of this lipstick if you lined the lips and put a sealer on top you could maybe get an extra hour or two out of it.
The colour itself is amazing. It is so easy to apply, and it doesn’t come out lumpy or too thick. It looks gorgeous when applied, my first impression was that it was going to be an amazing lipstick, and I am kind of disappointed that it isn’t what I’d first thought.
I think I may pick up another lipstick from Collection’s “Deluxe” line, maybe it was just an odd tube, who knows. If the staying power was better this lipstick would be so much better. Have you tried Collection’s Deluxe lipstick? What are your thoughts on it?
