Chanel Joues Contraste #44 Narcisse Review, Swatches
Chanel is one of those makeup lines that I’ve explored very little, apart from their lip products (which I generally love) I really haven’t tried too many of their products. I guess the price point is a little off putting. I ended up coming across a lovely pink blush some time ago via a friend, we were doing a little makeup swap and I ended up with Chanel’s Joues Contraste Blush in #44 Narcisse.
Sleek and stylish packaging as always…
The Joues Contraste range is a line of baked blushes, which fairly sheer and satin-y in finish. Some shades have a little extra shine but mostly they offer a glow, with buildable colour. Narcisse is definitely on the lighter end of the spectrum and offers a very sheer, candy pink glow which would work best on fair to very fair skin-tones.
On bare, moisturised skin (no foundation)
You can see it gives the skin a subtle pink glow.
I found that the best way to apply this blush was with a densely packed blush brush (I used the Illamasqua blush brush) as this picked up more product than a fluffy blush brush, allowing me to pack the colour on in a more controlled manner. While this is a pretty blush and I do reach for it with some regularity, I would recommend it to anyone with deeper skin-tones as I don’t think it would show on the skin. As it was I had to pack the product on for these pictures to get it to show on camera, it’s extremely sheer and light. For the price (I believe Chanel blushes are upwards of about $70AUD) I think there are much better blushes out there, however Chanel Joues Contraste in Narcisse suits me so I do enjoy wearing it.
