Bare Minerals Original Foundation Review | Glam Radar

Here is my review Bare Minerals Original Foundation !

I’m a changed woman I am….

I hate the feel of traditional make up on my face like I’m wearing another thick slapped on layer of skin. So a couple of months ago I decided to trial Bare Minerals foundation. See my post here. After trialling although I wasn’t entirely happy with the shade I had, I loved that Bare Minerals gave me that hardly wearing look whilst being very build able to a “blemish, what blemish? look”. So after my trial sized foundation was finished I trotted along to House Of Fraser (HOF) to properly jump on the mineral foundation band wagon.

To give you an idea of the sizes

I did intend to buy one of the starter kits with a bronzer, foundation, concealer and all the brushes for £48. Unfortunately the shade that perfectly matches my skin is one of those rare ones (can you tell? I’m NC44.5) and doesn’t come in one of the sets, so I ended up buying the foundation for £23 and a brush for £18. The assistant that colour matched me was really friendly and tried on three different shades. Two of which come in starter pack form. and the one that I purchased that was in fact the inbetween shade of the other two I tried.

I’ve experimented alot with this. I’ve worn with different primers, with mineral primer being the best (kinda obvious) I suppose thats because mineral based primers go on you could say sticky but dry nicely and are fabulous bases for mineral foundation (I’ve been using the ELF one if anyone was wondering). I also used this with liquid and powder concealers (finding that cream/ liquid concealer was the best, Lush Colour Supplement being my choice). Lastly I wore this to set liquid foundation to get maximum staying power and coverage. It works really well with my mostly unused a year old MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC 44.5.

All with most foundations the companies own accessories/ applicators work best with their products. Which is why I went for the Bare Minerals Brush. I knew I didn’t have anything quite liked this and figured, if I want to get the most use out of the product without using too much or too less product I had better get its matching brush. Which I am happy to say lives up to all expectations I had. I trialled Medium Beige and bought Golden Medium.
