MAKEUP LOOKS FOR SPRING

This season, think of your face as a blank canvas and have fun with pretty and playful makeup. Looks were decidedly feminine on the runways, with the aim of enhancing your natural features and having fun with your look. Statement colors, glossy glows and gorgeous metallics, these are the key looks to take you into spring :rainbow-eyeliner
Rainbow hues – pops of brights and pastel shades were huge on the runways for spring. Gone was the humble smoky eye and in its place were turquoise, lavender and…pink. Yup, pink. Fashion’s ever-playful duo Meadham Kirchhoff headed the look with dolly-pink blusher and painted yellow eyebrows. Recreate the look and pack a punch with washes of pastel color on the eyes or statement lips in purple or green.

Rouge – the timeless retro glamourpuss look returned  as models at Dior
and Jean Paul Gaultier coupled their gorgeous 1940s pin curls with rouged lips and flawless skin. From vampy dark reds at Donna Karan to metallic sheens at YSL and gloss at Temperley London, anything goes this season as long as it’s red!statement-brows
Statement brows – they’re the best way to frame your face but it’s surprising how often eyebrows get neglected. Well, for spring/summer the statement brow is well and truly in the spotlight. Brushed-up brows were the talk of the town at Versace and Jil Sander whilst models went for the full, pretty and natural look at Burberry Prorsum. No make-up look is complete without the power brow.statement-brows
Feline flicks – always a gorgeous addition to daytime or evening looks, the feline flick is here to stay. Make-up artists moved away from the staple black liquid liner flick towards more inventive ways of wearing the modern classic. Models at Jonathan Saunders wore their liner in long strokes and coupled with nude lips whilst girls at Matthew Williamson amped up the look with flicks of color. Double flicks at Marios Schwab and Giorgio Armani was the look of the season for eyes.cat-eye-tutorial
Dewy skin – A nod to the sporty aesthetic as seen at Lacoste and Isabel Marant, dewy and hydrated skin makes a big comeback for the new season. Think fresh faced: perfectly primed skin, a slick of lipgloss and a generous lashing of mascara. Achieve the luminous look with a great primer and highlighter and add a flush of the sun-kissed look to cheeks with a natural bronzer.cat-eye-makeup
Metallics – Eyes gleamed with 10-carat lustre at Dsquared2 and Ashish as glitters and metallics made for a statement eye. If you’re not quite bold enough to recreate the gold and silver leaf look a la Fendi, think silver shadows and iridescent shimmers in the crease of the eye for a subtle, wearable take on the trend.metallic-makeup
