Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette Review – Glam Radar

by Beccy · July 12, 2015

I recently went back to Bath and was faced with the rather daunting task of tidying up my childhood bedroom. This taught me two things. Firstly, that you’re never too old for your mother to utter those immortal words, “Go and tidy your room”, and secondly, that I am a hoarder. Seriously. The amount of sheer junk that I found was astonishing. Happily, there were a few gems amongst the general mess including the rediscovery of an old favourite of mine, Princess by Vera Wang.

Now, let’s just get this one out there. This eau de toilette is unashamedly girly. If floral and sweet fragrances aren’t your thing, then you may want to stop reading now. Especially as I’m going to wax lyrical about this particular fragrance. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Vera Wang Princess is a beautifully floral fragrance; its top notes are a delightful combination of water lily, apple, and mandarin, which works in harmony with its middle notes of guava and dark chocolate. This is all balanced perfectly by a base of vanilla and amber which ensures that this is not too sickly sweet or overbearing. Instead, you are left with a pretty and delicate fragrance that makes you feel feminine. I had previously read that this fragrance was aimed at sixteen – twenty-four years olds. Well, Gosh. I no longer belong in that age-bracket and I adore it. I’m a firm believer that fragrances aren’t defined by your age (unless we’re talking Charlie, and then maybe, just maybe) – it is about what you like and what suits you. Vera Wang’s Princess is pretty and light, and while I may not be either of those things, this is perfect for me. Adding to my love of Vera Wang’s Princess is the bottle. It really is a joy. The heart shaped bottle is so lovely, and as if this wasn’t enough, the gold cap detaches to reveal a simple ring. Now, I haven’t yet used this feature, but I certainly love a gimmick and this particular one ticks all the boxes.

I had received the Princess eau de toilette as part of a gift set which also features this lovely body butter. Infused with the delicate Princess fragrance, this is a luxuriously velvety body butter that leaves skin leaving wonderfully smooth and with a subtle scent. Vera Wang Princess eau de toilette retails at £45 for a 50ml bottle but is available at £37.99 from Fragrance Direct.
