Why Do You Wear Makeup? – Glam Radar

Inspired by a post I saw on Smaggle Style the other day, where she asked this question and started off her post withI was considering this as I overheard a woman saying that she won’t allow her daughter to wear make up until she makes her realise that make up is a choice, not a necessity, which I thought was quite a valid point.

I agree, absolutely. I don’t need to wear makeup and I regularly go days without a shred, or just a loose powder and lip gloss.

And if I ever have little girls, that’s exactly what I’ll tell them. While you’re young and your skin still looks great, you don’t need it. Even when your skin doesn’t look great, fix your skin first. But if makeup looks like fun, by all means, experiment. Lightly. There’s no need to go all Kim Kardashian on your arse at 12. 25 yeah, but not 12.

So this was my answer to Lady Smaggle’s question:

I’m a makeup girl, and have been since mum told me that the only women who wear lots of makeup are whores. Hahaha. But I wear makeup because

• I look healthier when my skin looks healthier, and my skin looks its best with a great foundation with a great finish
• It’s fun! I’m not one of those girls who can get away with a fantastically quirky wardrobe, so the way I express myself is through makeup.
• Maybe I’m a rarity, but I find it really easy. Blending is easy, knowing what products to buy is easy, application is easy. I can apply 10 products in 10 minutes and walk out the door feeling more confident.
• The makeup I use actually improves my skin. For example, my eyelashes doubled in length after a year of using one particular mascara, and if I’d never found it they’d still be short and stumpy.

The mascara in question by the way, is Korres Rice Bran. I’m like a missionary with this stuff and will tell anyone who’ll listen.
