Shizzle Lips Metallic Lip Foils Review | Glam Radar

The lovely folks at Shizzle Lips kindly offered to send me some lip foils to try out. Sadly once they arrived I opened the glue and caught a whiff of my arch nemesis…. latex. Here is my review of Shizzle Lips Metallic Lip Foils !

A quick email to Shizzle lips confirmed that yes the glue does indeed contain latex which means sadly I can’t go anywhere near it. I was gutted as I had really wanted to try these but thankfully I recruited a friend to try them out for me.

Shizzle Lips can be found on the interwebs here. The lip foils are quite literally coloured foils that you stick to your lips. The effect can be really quite stunning although our own efforts went a little wrong… These come in a huge range of colours from more wearable reds and pinks through to silver, blue, gold and bronze. Each pack contains 10ml of non toxic lip glue and 1.5 meters of the foil so you get enough to have a couple of practice runs (10-20 applications according to the website, this will of course depend on the size of your lips). The pack will cost you £19 which isn’t exactly cheap when you work out cost per wear but then this isn’t an everyday product. Please excuse the poorly lit photo’s of the colours here. They have been made a little darker by the lack of daylight. See the website for more accurate colour swatches.

The glue itself has a doe foot applicator and goes tacky quite quickly. Once it has gone clear your press the non shiny side of the foil to your lips and then peel it off. As you can see we never quite got the hang of it. I think it’s a bit like false eye lashes, it will take a few goes to get the knack of it. The good news is that should yours go a bit patchy (like our effort) you can simply add more glue and fill in the gaps. This means you could in theory take the glue and some of the foil out with you and touch up throughout the night.  I thought my poor unsuspecting friend had probably had enough at this point so recruited my husbands arm to try out some of the other colours.

Once on Vicky said they felt comfortable enough and there wasn’t any flaking of the product onto her glass. She did say she continued to be able to feel the stickiness of the glue and after around 45 minutes it still felt tacky. This may well have been because of our patchy application but the glue didn’t seem to dry down much over time. This is something to bear in mind if you plan on wearing them for a long period of time.

Now I’m not going to pretend for one minute that I think these are wearable, they aren’t, but they are good fun. If I could use the glue (sob) I’d be well up for wearing these at Halloween, I had even hoped to try the red on at New Years! I suspect it would take me a while to get the knack of applying them but the images on the website do look pretty darn funky. Obviously these aren’t for everyone but they were good fun to try. Just bear in mind that you need to get the knack of applying them down quickly before you run out of foil and that you may have to put up with your lips feeling a bit sticky all night x
