Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation Review – Glam Radar

This foundation has been my friend and my foe in equal measure lately. You might remember the chair debacle (long story short my face connected with chair, bruising ensued) and nothing helped cover it as well as this. Here is my review of Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation !

This foundation makes Revlon Color Stay look like a tinted moisturiser, the coverage is that high. I approve of the SPF 20 (you will NEVER find me in front of a camera flash so flash back isn’t an issue for me) and I love the practical squeezey tube.

I have the lightest shade, 15 Opal. In the swatch it does look nice and pale if not a little pink toned. It looks fine when I apply it and has a flattering satin finish which does diffuse imperfections very well. Sadly on my skin this oxidises to an alarming degree. It becomes too dark and too orange very quickly. The thick coverage means that the only way to combat this is to apply it all down my neck and collar bones so there is no tide line otherwise the shade discrepancy is very obvious. The limited shade range is a real shame!

As for how the foundation performs it’s not ideal for me. I wouldn’t call this a long lasting foundation (but then most don’t last long on my oily nose). If I blot and powder like my life depends on it I can get 8 hours of wear but be warned that this can look very obviously patchy as it fades.

Where this foundation excels for me is as a concealer. Its coverage is excellent, you can apply layer and layer and it never cakes up. The satin finish means that it doesn’t look crusty or dry on blemishes or slightly crepey under eye skin.

So there we have it. I wouldn’t have gotten through the work week without people asking me if I’d been beaten up without this and I certainly think this is an excellent foundation to have in my collection in case of furniture related emergencies. Would I wear it as an everyday foundation? No. It’s a little bit too much work for that. I’d be far more likely to use it mixed with a moisturiser or on its own as a concealer. At £15.50 I think it’s very reasonably priced and I don’t know of any other brand on the UK high street that offers this kind of camouflage coverage! X
