Review and Swatches : Urban Decay Vice 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Here it is! Urban Decay’s Vice 2 Eyeshadow Palette filled with 20 brand new vibrant shades. As with most Urban Decay eyeshadows, each packs a punch with pigmentation and payoff. If all-neutral palettes bore you, this is one perfect because you can easily create a demure, subtle look one day and then a bright, disco ball the next. On with the review!
The palette mostly consists of frost and glitter finishes with only 3 mattes (Habit, Rewind and X-Rated). Dope is the only one I would consider a satin finish.
I found all the shadows, except the mattes, gave me a bit of fallout, but the chunkier frost shades (Ambush, Strike, ShellShock and Coax) fell the most on my cheeks during application. Lovesick looks absolutely gorgeous in the pan but it was a bit of a disappointing swatch because the glitters don’t really show up – they mostly fall off to just reveal a plain black.
As for color selection, I am pretty happy with the shades in the palette but I would have been over the moon if they included 1 or 2 warmer shades like a burgundy or warm brown to blend out with. Rewind is basically a last resort blending shade for me since it is so cool-toned, actually almost grey (which looks horrible on my skin tone).
For a more detailed description of each eyeshadow, just check on Urban Decay’s website.
For the look I created here, I used the shades below:
Inner corner, Brow Highlight – Dope
Inner Lid – Strike
Mid Lid – Stash
Outer Lid – Damaged
Outmost Corner – Poison
Crease Blending – Habit, Rewind
The Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette is a limited edition item and is available at Sephora, Ulta and Urban Decay for$59 and would make a great holiday gift for you or someone else. 😉
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of this Urban Decay Vice 2 Eyeshadow Palette. I have neutrals giving birth to neutrals in my collection, so one palette full of fun, vibrant but still wearable quality shades works very well for me. My only real criticism would be that there could be at least one warmer shade in there but overall, I think it is worth it and I would totally recommend.
I give the Vice 2 4/5
