The Lipstick-Gloss Hybrids :YSL ,Avon, Estee Lauder – Glam Radar

I mentioned recently that lipstick-gloss hybrids are on the rise, so I felt it fitting to kick of my Pink Lip comparison posts with 3 products from this category. Here there are two high-end products and one low end, so hopefully something for most people’s budget!

YSL Gloss Volupte in #2 Chilled Raspberry – This product has a more glossy appearance than the other two in this post. It’s also more ‘stain like’ in appearance and gives the lips just a subtle wash of sheer colour. It a beautiful product, with a gorgeous raspberry pink shine but it’s very expensive for the tiny amount of product you get. Is it worth it? Yes, I love it but it’s certainly a lot to spend on such a small item.

Estee Lauder Pure Gloss Stick in Orchid Dream – I review this one very recently, so I don’t have too much extra to add. This is the creamiest formulation of the three products featured in this post, it’s the most hydrating and better value than the YSL. This feels more like a lipstick than a gloss, in that it’s thicker and less ‘glossy’ than the other two. It also has the least shine of the three, however it’s the most pigmented.

Avon Minerals Lip Tint in Soft Pink – This is almost more on the ‘balm’ side of the lip product spectrum. The Lip Tint is a smooth, fairly solid product that’s close to the YSL Gloss Volupte in feel. It nourishes the lips and provides a hint of colour and shimmer. This product is also free from talc, fragrance and dyes. For the price I think it’s a great product, the shade is flattering and I like the subtle shimmer. It can look a little frosty in some lights but overall it’s a very easy-to-wear shade.
