Tarte Rising Star Palette: Reviews, Swatches – Glam Radar

by Jane · March 19, 2015

At the end of every year, Sephora has the Friends and Family 20% off sale and then gives a $15 or $20 gift card to their beauty insiders a few weeks later. I splurge on high end makeup at this very time. I heard amazing things about the Tarte so I thought that I’d get the Tarte Rising Star Palette to test out their product line. tarte-rising-star-palette-reviews-swatches-500x282-1 tarte-rising-star-palette-swatches-500x282-1 The Tarte Rising Star Palette contains 12 x 0.07oz Amazonian Clay Eye shadows, 2 x 0.07oz Amazonian Clay Blushes, 1 x 0.16oz Park Avenue Princess Bronzer, and 1 x 0.16oz Amazonian Clay Shimmering Power in Champagne (Highlighter). The great thing about the Tarte Amazonian Clay line is that the amazonian clay makes the products last longer, absorbs the oil without caking up, hydrates the skin, and does not contain any parabens, synthetic fragrances/dyes, and phthalates.  The eyeshadows were about half miss and half hit. The first row is absolutely flawless in quality and color selection. The second also has the amazing color selection but isn’t as pigmented. The third is less than satisfactory. However, I’ve read reviews that these shadows are not up to par with Tarte’s regular eyeshadows so I’m guessing Tarte’s eyeshadows must be amazing! As for the face powders, they were extraordinary! I love all the face powders here and would get full sizes of them if I ever run out. The Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes give the glow that MAC Mineralize Blushes do without the heavy price tag and with added longevity. The Park Avenue Princess bronzer and Amazonian Clay Shimmering Powder in Champagne are both must haves in creating the most youthful natural glow onto your face. 1_-9                                     Price: $27, sephora.com
Pigmentation: Medium to high                                     Texture: Smooth, finely milled, a little powdery                                     Pros: Amazing face powders; unique eyeshadow colors; great way to try Tarte; easy to carry around

Cons: Eyeshadows are decent; decent shade selection

Overall: B+/A-, It’s a great starter palette for those looking into Tarte. The face
products (blush, bronzer, highlighter) are of excellent quality but the eyeshadows can
                                    be improved.

tarte-rising-star-palette-500x111-1 tarte-rising-star-palette-swatch1-500x281-1 The first row is the best – has the most pigmentation, most variety, and colors that go beautifully together. 1) Matte Chai Tea – great brow bone shade 2) Shimmering Sienna – gorgeous beige tone with random champange sparkles! 3) Burnished Bronze – gunmetal taupe shade 4) Shimmering Citrine – beautiful coppery shade

Second Row

The second row has amazing neutral colors but sadly isn’t as pigmented as the first row. 5) Shimmering Cocoa – nice warm brown shade with hints of taupe 6) Shimmering Sage – unique sage shade with golden shimmers…sadly isn’t as pigmented as the rest 7) Shimmering Sunset Gold – great summer shade 8) Matte Coffee Liquor – one of the better blendable dark brown shadows in my collection but still applys a little unevenly. tarte-rising-star-palette2-500x111-1 tarte-rising-star-palette2-swatches-500x281-1This last row is the worst row of shadows mainly because of the lack of blendability and color selection. 9) Shimmering platinum – applies a little unevenly but a beautiful white-silver shade 10) Matte light pink – applies a bit chalky, no use for this 11) Shimmering steel blue – needs a heavier hand to swatch but a color seen many times in WnW palettes 12) Shimmering smoke – could be a little smoother but by far the best shade in this row tarte-rising-star-palette3-500x282-1 tarte-rising-star-palette3-swatches-500x281-1 1) Amazonian Clay Blush (unknown shade) – beautiful shimmery peach shade that creates a glow on your cheeks 2) Amazonian Clay Blush (unknown shade) – satin medium pink shade that is universally flattering as an everyday color 3) Park Avenue Princess Bronzer (highly pearled golden tan) – Amazing bronzer! Gives me the most natural looking tan, loveeee it! 4) Amazonian Clay Shimmering Powder in Champagne (golden champagne sheen) – similar to NARS Albatross but absolutely beautiful. Creates a gorgeous natural glow onto my cheeks that can be built up.
