My Thoughts:
Let me start by correcting the “5 Plush Shades” claim/statement that Maybelline is making. They don’t technically have “5 shades”. They have three and two of the shades are the same except that are just waterproof. I think stating they have “5 Plush Shades” is a bit of a stretch. They basically have brown black, black and really black. Ha!
I can say that some of the other claims/statements are true, however! This gel-mousse mascara does provide a very soft formula that translates to your lashes not feeling brittle, flaky or hard. I really like that. It also means the brush head is gentle and not rough against your lashes during application. I tried the Blackest Black shade and it was pretty dark black. This is about where the goodness ends, I’m afraid.
This mascara gives me length, separation and a bit of curl but it doesn’t do much in the way of volume. *cough* What’s the name of this thing again? MEGA VOLUM’ PLUSH MASCARA, y’all!!! Wait a minute… maybe that’s how they’re getting around this. They took the ‘e’ off the word volume! Hmm… well, in the adverts they are saying “mega volume goes mega plush” so there’s no getting around it.

Let’s talk about the design of the new Flexor Brush and why that is a problem as well. The brush is tapered on both ends with fullness in the middle, just like the shape of a football. Then there’s this stupid bendy part on the wand that just gives too much bounce to the whole application process and I had no structure or solid base to get a good coat on. In fact, it took me 4-5 coats just to get enough mascara on my lashes to start to see color, product and a little bit of volume. Boo! That is just too much time and effort for a mascara that isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do!
The final nail in this mascara’s coffin was that it smudged — big time! I tested this for two weeks and I tried everything in the book: primer, no primer, eye makeup, no eye makeup, only mascara on the top lashes; I even wore nothing on my entire face, and I still had transfer. Maybe this wouldn’t happen with the waterproof formula but I’m not going to bother because this still doesn’t do what it’s advertised to do.

Betty says: This one is a stinker! If you’re looking for length and separation, try Avon’s Lengthening Mascara – it doesn’t budge.
Have you tried this mascara? I saw so many reviews on this it’s what prompted me to try it! I was so disappointed. What are your thoughts?
Have a beautiful day!
