Here is my review of Milani Color Statement Lipstick & Lip Liner Swatches !

Milani Color Statement Lipsticks ($5.49) in Sangria & Flamingo Pose
Milani Color Statement Lip Liner ($3.99) in Haute Pink Beauty bloggers and vloggers everywhere (well, perhaps not everywhere considering Milani is not available everywhere) are raving about the new Milani lipsticks. I have been wanting to try them out myself and since CVS is having a buy one get one fifty percent off sale this week, as well as giving out $4 off a $12 purchase coupon, I decided to buy some and try them out for myself. My CVS doesn’t have all of the shades that I’ve seen listed on the website, but it does have quite a variety so there should be at least one lipstick for everyone. I chose Flamingo Pose, a hot pink-coral with a cream finish, and Sangria, a purple with a matte finish. Since I also had that coupon, I decided to try one of the lip liners and I chose Haute Pink since the berries & plums category did not have a lip liner. (At least, not in my store.) milani-color-statement-lipstick-lip-liner-swatches2 Here is what Milani has to say about these lipsticks:

Make a statement without saying a word!  True Instant Color. One stroke, full coverage application. This next generation lipstick gives the ultimate in color, texture and finish. The lightweight creamy formula contains Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Paraben-free. Available in Vinyl, Metallic, Cream, Shimmer, Pearl & Matte finish. With Flamingo Pose, you can definitely get great pigmentation with just one swipe. With Sangria, however, you cannot. It is much more sheer than Flamingo Pose. The top photo is the Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in Haute Pink with the Flamingo Pose lipstick on top. The lipstick alone pretty much looks the same on its own as well. This shade is my favourite of the two. It’s very comfortable on the lips, not drying, and I love the colour overall. It’s very similar to Maybelline’s Coral Crush that I used to own a few years ago, but Milani’s lipstick is a cruelty free option. Sangria is, unfortunately, the disappointment. The colour looks much lighter on the lips than it does on the tube. It’s sheerer than Flamingo Pose so you have to put on a few layers. It settles into and emphasizes lip lines. Product will separate and gather on the lines of the lips and turn out to be darker than the rest of the product. There was also this uncomfortable sensation the entire time I wore Sangria on the lips. It wasn’t so painful that I needed to wipe it off right away, but I did not like wearing it. I also found it to be way too similar to my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush since Sangria is much lighter than it should be, so I will be returning this to CVS tomorrow. Staying power is wonderful. Both lipsticks can last for hours. If I’m home and I want to eat something, I can wipe off most of the lipstick with a tissue and there is a very pigmented stain left on the lips. A leftover stain does not bother me, but if it bothers you, it may be something to think about. These lipsticks have a strong watermelon scent in the tube. It does not transfer onto the lips but if the tube just being strongly scented is bothersome to you, I would skip the lipstick line as a whole.

Next up is the Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in Haute Pink. This is what Milani has to say about these:

Make a statement without saying a word. True Instant Color. Satin color in one stroke application. This next generation lipliner is a long-wearing, easy-glide formula to line & fill-in your lips. Paraben free.

Haute Pink is just your everyday pink. It reminds me somewhat of MAC Creme Cup but in lip liner form. This actually does wear very well by itself and I can imagine myself wearing this alone when I’m in a rush and don’t want to spend a lot of time perfecting my lipstick. This is a very creamy pencil and does not feel drying whatsoever. Since I don’t think most people wear lip liners on their own, I didn’t either so I can’t tell you how long wear time is on just on this product.Out of the three items, I would recommend Flamingo Pose lipstick and Haute Pink lip liner. Don’t go for the Sangria unless you want a mess on your hands.I would absolutely be interested in trying other shades from this line. What about you? Do you own these? Would you try them? Are you currently looking for them?
