Keep in mind that the Grandstand Enclosure and Royal Ascot Enclosure have a very strict dress code. Though formalwear is strictly encouraged, you must also dress modestly and reputable. Your dresses and skirts should be of modest length for which the hemlines fall on the knees or longer and should also be of matching material and color. This formal event is not an occasion to show off your print mixing skills as well as edgy and rock-chic looks. Keep in mind that midriffs must also be covered and strapless and sheer outfits are not permitted. This means that crop tops, miniskirts, shorts, revealing tops, and plunging necklines are out of the equation. So, opt for more modest outfits for where your tops and dresses should have straps of two inch or greater. Women’s trousers are acceptable, but they must be in full length. Jackets may be worn but should still comply with the Royal Enclosure dress code.

The most important accessory for the occasion is the hat, headpiece, or fascinator that should be worn at all times. However, since the Royal Enclosure is the most formal and elegant enclosure, fascinators are not permitted, but headpieces which have a base of 4 inches or more in diameter is acceptable as alternatives to a hat. Though hats may be removed within any enclosed external seating area within the Royal Enclosure Garden, the customization of top hats like colored ribbons or bands is not permitted in the Royal Enclosure.
