How to Curl Your Hair Overnight – Glam Radar

by Anjelina · August 2, 2014

If you have naturally straight hair, getting some curls on is something you can do to easily change up your look without really doing anything too drastic. The change in texture is often enough to spice things up every now and then. Lucky for us, getting curls isn’t as expensive and difficult as before. Today, we can do it ourselves with our trusty curling irons and we don’t even have to commit to the curls because they come off after washing. All that heat from regularly curling your hair can damage your hair, though, so some heatless options would really come in handy if you’re someone who likes to curl her hair on a regular basis. However, heatless curls take a lot of time so doing them before you hit the sack is the best option. Here are some ideas on how to curl your hair overnight without using any heat-emitting hair tools.

  • Braid them – braiding is one of the easiest ways to get curls overnight. You can do any kind of braid you want, from the regular three-strand to a fishtail to a five strand braid or even a rope braid. This works best on damp hair but if you aren’t washing your hair for the night, you can simply spritz it with some water instead. Leave your braids on overnight and release it in the morning to release gorgeous curls. Smooth out your hair by finger combing it and then set your curls with hairspray and you’re ready for the day! Remember to braid your hair a little tighter to get curls. Looser braids will produce more of waves instead of curls.

  • Tuck and curl – this method is actually also a lovely hairstyle that you can sport during the day to get gorgeous curls by night (though it works overnight just as well). It’s a little bit reminiscent of the hairstyle that Princess Jasmine from Aladdin wears. This is a great way to curl your hair overnight if you have midlength to long hair. • Straw curls – this curling trick gives you really unique and spirally curls that’s perfect if you want something different and exquisite. The name of this curling trick gets its name from the main ‘tool’ that you’re going to be using to create curls and that is the drinking straw. What’s really great about this is that you can do it with any hair length as long as your hair is long enough to get wrapped up around a drinking straw. Here’s an in-depth video tutorial to walk you through this fun overnight curling process.

  • Rag curls – using damp rags to curl hair overnight is something that most of our moms and grandmas used to do back in the day. It’s a ‘vintage’ overnight curling trick that still works wonders today. This is a great way to get curls without the heat and without having to buy any other hair tool / accessory.
