Tom Ford Private Blend Lipsticks Review, Swatches | Glam Radar

The Tom Ford Private Blend lipsticks are like the Aston Martin’s of the lip product world, sleeky packaged the garner attention in every way passible. They’re highly expensive, ultimately luxurious and it’s possibly the most excited I’ve ever been about lipsticks. I had the opportunity to trial 6 shades from the line and, needless to say, I was over the moon.

The packaging is extremely well done, white is a tough colour for makeup items to wear (anyone remember the MAC Moonbathe collection where the lipsticks ended up looking like tampons?) but the Tom Ford Private Collection lipsticks are chic and glamorous. A touch of gold is th perfect finishing detail. They’re also very weighty, so you’ll notice the nice, heavy click when you put the lid on.

A row of pretties…

L-R: Blush Nude, Warm Sable, True Coral, Cherry Lush, Moroccan Rouge and Black Orchid

The texture on these lipsticks was amazing! Thanks to ingredients such as soja seed extract, brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil these lipsticks are hydrating and creamy. They glide on like a dream and keep lips feelings smooth. All shades are pigment rich, with a creamy finish and comfortable wear. The lasting power is fantastic also, particularly with the darker shades as there is some slight staining.

Swatches…

L-R: Blush Nude, Warm Sable, True Coral, Cherry Lush, Moroccan Rouge and Black Orchid

Blush Nude – a gorgeous pink-toned beige nude shade, that’s perfect for pairing with smokey eyes. Just a little lighter than Your-Lips-But-Better shades, this will give an amazing nude-lip look that’s perfect for cooler skin-tones.
Warm Sable – The only shade in these 6 whichs not for me, a warm brown with a golden shine. This was way too brown and warm for me, so I passed it onto a friend who has gorgeous Indian skin – it looked AMAZING on her.
True Coral – BRIGHT coral, this is edging towards my ‘orange phobia’ area but this is still an amazingly gorgeous shade. Very summery!
Cherry Lush – Jackpot! A stunning cherry red with strong pink tones, this is my kind of colour! It’s vibrant and flattering, ultra creamy and feminine.
Moroccan Rouge – Another beautiful shade, this is a deep and rich berry shade that’s sexy yet still wearable. I think this is a ‘must have’ for winter.
Black Orchid – named after Ford’s famous fragrance this shade is bold and daring. Blackened plum with a hint of brown, this shade is rich and very pigment heavy.

Overall this range is simply amazing! There are a further 6 shades in the line with another nude, a bright pink, coral, red and a deep red shade. The biggest downside is the price, at $65AUD these lovelies are the most expensive lipsticks going around…but they are honestly worth it if you have some extra cash to splurge. It’s the perfect choice for a special occasion, if you treat yourself to just one shade make sure you look at Moroccan Rouge, it’s simply stunning in person.
