Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation: Review, Application – Glam Radar

by Jane · March 20, 2015

In recent years, the “second skin” foundation trend has been adopted by several high end cosmetic brands and is slowly spreading into the drugstore. Revlon’s Nearly Naked Foundation promises a light-weight feel, natural finish, and buildable coverage. It’s supposed to blend and “melt into your skin”. revlon-nearly-naked-foundation-review-application-500x236-1 Does it live up to these claims? Yes. It is a light-weight moisturizing blendable foundation that gives low to buildable coverage. It will cancel out moderate redness and even out skin tone but will not mask blemishes. It doesn’t cling to dry patches or acne spots. It has more of a dewy finish than a natural skin finish. Due to the texture and finish, this foundation is more suitable for those with dry, normal, or  some combination skin*. The wear time is a little less than what I prefer; it starts to fade around 6 hours and by 8 hours, blemishes are peeking through and it gets a little patchy around the nose. This can easily be solved by a powder on top and honestly, NARS Sheer Glow fared much worse for me with patchiness and uneven fading. Unfortunately, the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation clogged my pores and started breaking me out.

*Note: At the time of testing, I had dry-normal skin in the dead of the winter. I don’t think this would fare well with oily skin or the summer weather.

Is it a dupe of Urban Decay’s Naked foundation? No. The UD Naked foundation actually looks like second skin and has a more satin finish. It has a watery texture as compared to the moisturizing, creamier texture of Revlon’s. The coverage is about the same with Revlon’s but lasts a little longer due to its more mattifying properties. Who is this good for? If you have dry to normal skin and are looking for a light-weight, low coverage, blendable, slightly dewy, everyday foundation then you might love the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. However, if you’re looking for a true natural finish or have combination to oily skin then opt for the Urban Decay Naked foundation instead. You can also decide to mix this in with a higher coverage foundation. 1_-10                                      Price: $7-10 at local drugstores                                      Texture: light-weight, moisturizing                                      Longevity: 6-8 hours on normal-dry skin during the winter                                      Best suited for: Dry, normal, some combination skin
Pros: light-weight, blendable, doesn’t cling to dry patches
Cons: clogged my pores, not very long lasting, finish is more dewy than natural (can
be fixed with powder), no pump                                      Overall: B+, I like how natural and light-weight this is but I don’t like it nearly as much as the Urban Decay Naked foundation. However, it out-performed the NARS Sheer Glow on me. Because the color (160 Fresh Beige) is slightly dark on me and the foundation clogged my pores (I didn’t factor that into the rating) , I will be returning this.

Comparisons: Moisturizing texture similar to NARS Sheer Glow, light buildable coverage

similar to Urban Decay Naked, dewy finish similar to L’Oreal True Match Lumi revlon-nearly-naked-foundation-500x236-1 revlon-nearly-naked-foundation-application-500x236-1 revlon-nearly-naked-foundation-look-500x281-1 revlon-nearly-naked-foundation-finished-look-500x236-1
