Philosophy Lip Shine in Cinnamon Buns and Vanilla Birthday Cake – Glam Radar

Philosophy Lip Shine in Cinnamon Buns and Vanilla Birthday Cake review and swatches :

I’ve had these Philosophy Lip Shines for a while now and thought it was time to review them because if you’re anything like me, you love a good flavoured gloss. I think it brings me back to junior high when I was mad for those yummy lipsmacker things.

I’ve only got two lip shines by Philosophy, which are Cinnamon Buns and Philosophy Lip Shine in Vanilla Birthday Cake.

I should preface this post by saying that I don’t particularly like fruit flavoured lip products, body products or… anything, really just because I don’t like fruit in general anyway. What I will freaking go nuts for however, is sweet yummy sticky carbs and cake and lollies and nom nom nom my mouth is watering and I’m going off topic.

What I’m trying to say here is that if you don’t like cake and christmas, then you’re probably in the wrong place – but if you love them like me, read on!!

Ok first up is Vanilla Birthday Cake by Philosophy. It’s not a limited edition product, which is great.

In terms of the colour, it’s a champagne shimmer which looks more orange compared to Cinnamon Buns which is more white-gold. On the lips, Vanilla Birthday Cake is a lot more neutral – it just looks a bit scary because it’s in one big goop and up close.

Vanilla Birthday Cake is a good gloss if you’re just running out the door and want a sparkly pop of shimmer and smell.

It’s also nice if you have a bit of a tan like I do – I think the orange suits darker skintones better, but then I’m a big believer that anyone can wear any colour!

And the smell – delicious. A little overpowering at first, and is maybe a bit sickly-sweet if you don’t have a sweet tooth like me, but I love it.

Next is Cinnamon Buns by Philosophy. It is limited edition unfortunately, but is still available on Sephora. It tends to come out in Australia (and the US) during Christmas for obvious reasons so it’s LE, but you can get your hands on it pretty easily.

In terms of the colour, I would say it’s white gold with shimmer. The glitter particles (like Vanilla Birthday Cake) are good in that they aren’t chunky, huge or particularly noticeable when on.

Cinnamon Buns would be a good colour if you’ve got paler skin just because it has less obvious colour in it, and more gold flecks.

But again – it would suit everyone.

In terms of the smell – it smells like gooey cinnamon buns, which for me smells like Americans, breakfast, and Christmas.

I like Americans.

I also really like this gloss – as you might be able to tell, it has the look of something that’s been banged around in my handbag too often.

Philosophy Lip Shines aren’t available on the Mecca Cosmetica website – strange, because that’s where I bought them from They do tend to come out on special occasions though – especially around Christmas.

They are however, available on Sephora for $10. Steal!
