Culottes are back on trend for fall this year so if you haven’t already tried these in the past, now is the perfect time to do so! Culottes are amazing. They can look dressy and posh or laidback and casual and it all depends on what you wear them with. What’s even better is that they’re practically versatile and can be worn with any look at any time or season. Here are some tips on how to pick the perfect pair of culottes for you.

• START SAFE – if you’re still a little overwhelmed by the rather dramatic silhouette of culottes, don’t worry. You are not alone. I, too, used to think I wouldn’t be able to pull these off but here I am now, wearing them as much as I can because they’re just super chic and comfy. A great way to start wearing culottes is to stick to foolproof designs. Look for neutral colors and avoid tricky details. The simpler they are, the easier they will be to pull off. Once you’ve mastered the art of wearing them, you can move on to more interesting styles.
• FOR A SLIMMING EFFECT, CHOOSE BLACK – if you’re bottom heavy and you don’t want the looseness of your culottes to add to what you consider to be your problem area, opt for a black pair. Black is always slimming so wearing black culottes will help make your legs look slimmer instead of bigger, helping you pull off culottes effortlessly.
• FIND THE RIGHT LENGTHS – ideally, your culottes should hit the slimmest part of your legs which is by the ankles but this doesn’t always ring true for everyone. Try on a pair that you like and see what length is most flattering for you. • MATCH YOUR STYLE – as mentioned earlier, culottes are pretty versatile and they go well with any style so incorporating them to your personal / signature style shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re a girly girl, loose and dramatic culottes might just be what you need. If you’re more of a posh and polished kind of lass, check out trouser type culottes. There will always be a pair that will seamlessly blend in with your style so don’t worry about having to buy new tops and accessories to go with them.
