BRONZED BEAUTY BY M&S – bronzing powder review : I am a 20 year old girl who loves Marks & Spencer. I live around the corner from a large store, hence feeding a life long addiction. Everything from their shoes (they do VERY comfy yet VERY high heels), the Limited Collection clothing, the food (don’t get me started on Percy Pigs…yum!) and amazing housewares, M&S really isn’t for the “over 40” club that so many people think it is. They have always had a small-ish make-up and beauty collection but over the last few years this has really expanded. I sometimes would get the odd lipstick or gloss if I’m in buying tights or underwear (which let’s be honest…most people go to M&S for!) but I am really impressed to see they are expanding just beyond a basic range. I was sent this bronzer to try out and I have to say that I am quite impressed.
Packaging, mini kabuki brush, close up of bronzer detail, inside the box I use a bronzer most days as I feel often a foundation can leave your face looking really flat. I am a big fan of Hoola by Benefit and Glam Bronze by L’Oreal (more of a night time number as it’s quite sparkly). The packaging is lovely and it comes with a small kabuki for putting it on. It is £8.50 for 9g of product plus the brush which seems fair compared to L’Oreal. The compact the bronzer comes in seems very durable for nights out (unlike my Glam Bronze which snapped at the hinge one night!). The consistency is very light and it is a nice mix of colour for both a bronzer and a highlighter. To give you some indication, I wear a NW20 in MAC and 20 Beige in Chanel. I think this bronzer would work from one shade below me and one shade up. It also would be great for anyone with a light fake tan, wanting to bronze their face up a bit to match their body. The only thing that I do not like about the bronzer is that, when used with the kabuki provided, quite a lot of product comes away meaning you need to tap the brush a few times before it comes near to your face/make sure you are not dressed in case any product gets on yourself. I do not know whether this is because the kabuki has such short bristles or because of the imprinted pattern on the bronzer. I tried it with a MAC 129 and not as much product came loose. Overall, a great wee product from M&S. They are really trying to up their game to compete with other leading makeup brands. A good bronzer for the price but definitely consider using your own brush if you are already dressed! Give the products a check at your nearest M&S, you may be pleasantly surprised.
