Brighton Blogger Meet // Lush, My Salon Looks, Pizza & Goodies – Glam Radar

by Maria · June 7, 2014

On Saturday 27th April I hopped on a train up to Brighton to meet a group of lovely bloggers for a day of beautyness, lots of yummy food and a good old natter on all things bloggy. Here is my review of Brighton Blogger Meet // Lush, My Salon Looks, Pizza & Goodies !

I meant to have this post published last week but I had a bit of a crazy time finishing my final Uni assignments (just an exam to do on Friday and I’m free from education forever eeeee!!!) so didn’t get a chance to. The day was organised by Laura and we were all very overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the amount of effort she put into making the day so wonderful.

Lush Demonstration for ‘Catastrophe’ Face Mask

We met in The Globe Pub near to the Brighton Centre at midday to begin the day, where we had the chance to chat and mingle before we were given an amazing demonstration by two lovely girls from Lush. This was my favourite part of the day as I’ve been wanting to branch into the world of Lush beauty products for a while, so it was really interesting to learn more about the brand and how their products are made (more on that in a future post!) The girls showed us how their ‘Catastrophe Cosmetic’ face mask is made and it was brilliant to see the mask being made right in front of us as we saw that the ingredients used really are all natural. The mask is made of Calamine Powder, Talc, Irish Moss Gel, Fresh Blueberries, Almond Oil, Glycerine, Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil and Sweet Wild Orange Oil, and is designed to help skin which is prone to spots and imperfections (so is perfect for me). I was very grateful to receive a pot of the face mask and have been thoroughly enjoying using it over the past week. The mask has to be kept in the fridge and used within three weeks due to the natural ingredients, so I’l be posting a review once I’ve finished using it 🙂 After the Lush demonstration we were given our goodie bags in beautiful pink paper bags which were full to the brim with very generous samples (photo at the bottom of this post). Laura also held a raffle where more beauty goodies were up for grabs and I was very excited and shocked when my number was called as I’m notorious for never winning anything! I chose a nail polish from Nail Girls London which is a stunning navy blue and I’m really looking forward to wearing it as navy blue is my favourite dark polish shade 🙂 We then headed up to Churchill Square to grab some lunch which I managed to eat rather ungraciously whilst walking towards Hove for the next demonstration (a sandwich with mayo is never the easiest thing to eat whilst walking!!) There’s something about white decoration in hair salons that makes me feel like its somewhere celebrities would choose so I instantly feel more glam and ready to be pampered like a princess 😛 I loved the simplicity of the salon and thought it drew attention nicely to the amazing products on the shelf display. The mini Ipads at each chair were so cool as well! I really enjoyed the demonstrations we were given as I’m always fascinated by different techniques for hair colouring and methods to make hair healthier. We were shown how they use tissue in colouring instead of foils which created a beautiful and evenly distributed colour and an oil treatment called the Shu Uemera experience where oils are dabbed onto the roots with a sponge and then combed through the hair to make hair look super soft and shiny. I had one of the Shu Uemera products sprayed onto my hair and it smelt absolutely incredible! The relaxation room used for hair washing was my favourite part of the salon as it looked so relaxing with it’s massage chairs and seems like a brilliant idea to make customers feel even more pampered. I always see getting my hair done as a real treat so having hair washed whilst sitting in a massage chair sounds like the ultimate pampering experience :)We were extremely kindly given the choice of a hair dryer or straighteners to have as a gift from the salon which we all couldn’t quite believe. I chose straighteners as I straighten my hair every day so am always eager to try different straightening tools to style my bob. I cannot thank My Salon Looks enough for this gift; they are absolutely beautiful straighteners which I was very impressed with when I used them the other day and I’m really looking forward to sharing a detailed review on them with you very soon 🙂 We were also given a 15% discount voucher for the salon so I’m looking forward to visiting them again soon and having my hair thoroughly pampered!

Whilst walking back down to the Brighton Lanes a couple of the girls popped into a beauty shop called Sally’swhich is apparently where beauty professionals buy their supplies. I decided not to go in (as much as I was massively tempted to) because my arms were pretty much falling off from carrying all of the amazing gifts we’d received and my always much too heavy handbag. but I’m really excited to pop in there on my next trip to Brighton as I hadn’t heard of it before but it sounds right up my street!

We headed to The Body Shop next where me and Kirsty had a good old natter about different beauty products and deliberated over whether their Nutriganics Drops of Youth serum is worth a try (I desperately want to but £22 is tugging on my purse strings a little too tightly at the minute with no sign of a full time job on the horizon). I’m a huge fan of The Body Shop and am going to do a separate post on why I love them so much or this post is going to become as long as my dissertation!!

Leisure and Food

We had a little pit stop in Cafe Nero for a much needed milkshake (in my case) and a peak through our goodie bags. Next we went to Donatello’s (which for some reason I thought only existed in America so I was massively excited to be going there!) where I sat with Jessica who I’d met before at another event so it was lovely to have a catch up, and Hannah who’s blog I’ve been following for a long time so it was amazing to finally meet her 🙂 After eating a little too much scrummy pizza, I headed up to the station with Hannah (who I have to thank for finding our way up there as I’m completely hopeless with directions in the lanes!!) and we had a wonderful chat on all things bloggy. The Incredibly Generous Goodies brighton-blogger-meet-lush-my-salon-looks-pizza-goodies12 brighton-blogger-meet-lush-my-salon-looks-pizza-goodies13 brighton-blogger-meet-lush-my-salon-looks-pizza-goodies14 brighton-blogger-meet-lush-my-salon-looks-pizza-goodies15 I wasn’t able to look through all of my goodie bag properly until a couple of days after the event because of work and uni work overload, but oh my goodness I am so excited to try everything out and share my thoughts with you 🙂 So far I’ve tried the Smooch lipstick, Angelica nail polish and Bodhi face oil and I’m loving them! I’ve also merrily tucked into the Popchips and Crispello chocolate bar which just might become my favourite chocolate bar as at just 150 calories I don’t even have to feel guilty for eating it ;)I want to say a huge thank you to Laura for organising such a wonderful event and to all of the blogging girlies who attended and made the day so much fun
