If you’ve just gotten into doing your own makeup for everyday looks, you must be so excited trying out and discovering new things: products that work (and don’t work) for you, techniques for applying certain things and maybe even a few tips from family, friends and YouTube beauty gurus to make your whole makeup experience easier. When I started doing my makeup, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know about YouTube, my friends have not yet taken the interest in using makeup and my family would say I was too young to start using products on my face (I was about 13) so I had to learn everything myself. If there was one thing I wish I knew about beauty then, it was that there are actually tools that you can use to help make your makeup look better. Now that I’ve learned, I want all you makeup newbies out there to know what the must have beauty tools for beginners are. Here’s a list that you can check out.

  • Spoolie – it often comes in a brush set but no beginner bothers to use it because, well, they don’t know what it’s for. It looks like a mascara brush but it wouldn’t make sense to use it as one and that’s because it’s not. it’s actually a brush for combing your brows so they stay in place and in shape before you apply brow gel on.

  • Tweezers – brows can make or break your look and that is why having well – groomed and well – shaped brows is always important, no matter how heavy or light your makeup is. Tweezers  are one of the most important tools you’ll need for grooming your brows. Use it to pluck hair excess brow hair. As an added bonus, you can use it to hold your falsies, too, when applying them.

  • Makeup brushes – you can purchase these in sets or individually though I would recommend getting a starter set / kit if you’re a beginner since it would be cheaper and you would have all the basic brushes that you’ll need. When I started doing makeup, I used my fingers to apply my foundation and those sponge applicators that came with palettes to apply eye shadow. Sure, I got a decent look but man, I wish I knew about brushes! Brushes pack on a lot more color more beautifully. They also let you blend out harsh lines so your makeup doesn’t look clown-ish.

  • Blending sponge – those beauty blender sponges will sure come in handy when you want to get an even and airbrushed look with your foundation so make sure you invest in at least one blending sponge for your starter collection.

  • Eye lash curler – even when you don’t plan on wearing any makeup at all for the day, just curling your lashes to give them a nice and flirty flick can instantly make you look and feel better and more gorgeous. When buying an eye lash curler, always make sure to get ones that you’ll be really comfortable with. You don’t want your hand to hurt or twitch or anything while your lashes are in between those curlers.
