I have been wanting to try this product for at least a year

but always put off buying it online as it seemed quite pricey for something that I was unsure would work. It’s so incredibly difficult to find AHA products on the western market however that it was a product that I always kept my eye on.

I’ve tried various AHA facial peeling gels before with various levels of success but was always really left a little disappointed – however on my recent Tokyo trip I saw this sitting in a store, it was roughly the same price as online but I threw caution the wind and bought it figuring if I didn’t buy it then when I had the extra money to spend I probably never would. I am so so incredibly glad I bought this, it is by far the best peeling gel I’ve ever tried!

What is it? Check this post out for more detailed information on what exactly a peeling gel does and how it fits into a skincare routine, but basically this product is designed to help get rid of dead skin cells, dark areas and dirt to leave skin soft and smooth – they are basically similar to microdermabrasion products however they use AHA (usually in the form of fruit acids) to do work their magic.

Meishoku have various types of this product (oils, foaming cleansers) but I would hazzard a guess that the gel is the original and most likely the most effective. It comes in two versions, a mixed berry version and a citrus fruit version the one I bought was mixed berry but I’m pretty certain both versions do a similar job.

The mixed berry scented version contains peach, strawberry, raspberry and cherry juice along with willow bark extract and it smells absolutely divine. Like a fruit salad for your face!

How do you use it?
You need two or three pumps of this product for your entire face, the consistency as you can see is quite watery it’s not as thick as a moisturiser and not as water based a toner somewhere in between. All you need to do with the product however is slowly rub it into your face, the water will absorb and the product will slowly start to bead and flake after a minute or two you simply then need to rince your face and you are done. Use it once or twice a week.

What does it do?
The effects of this product aren’t immediately obvious but once you’ve rinsed your face your skin will feel so much softer, dry areas are lessened and I’ve noticed my skin seems more even. After a few weeks of using this product it has really become a staple in my skincare routine, it’s especially great for days when my skin feels particularly congested or dirty as it just leaves you feeling fresh again.

You can pick this up on eBay and various online Asian skincare sites for around £13, its definitely worth a try though!
