Maybelline 24 Hour Tattoo Eyeshadows Review – Glam Radar

The Maybelline 24 Hour Tattoo Eyeshadows are setting the stage for high quality drugstore cream eyeshadows. They’ve been termed as the “MAC Paintpot dupes” — and I have to agree.

Maybelline 24 Tattoo Eyeshadows retail for $6.50 at the drugstore (cheaper at Walmart) for 4g of product (MAC Paintpots are $17.50 for 5g).

The colors I have are: Too Cool, Bold Gold, Tough as Taupe, Bad to the Bronze

REVIEW

PIGMENTATION: 5/5
TEXTURE: 5/5
LONGEVITY: 4/5
OVERALL: 5/5

THE GOOD:

  • Pigmented
  • Lasts good 6 hours
  • Glides on smoothly

THE BAD:

  • Need greater selection
  • Primer needed for very oily eyelids or for full day wear

Bottom Line: Great “dupe” or alternative for the MAC Paint Pots in terms of great performance and wear throughout the day 🙂 Pick it up!!

Pigmentation – ( 5 / 5 ) Very pigmented which is unexpected for a drugstore cream eyeshadow (judging from Maybelline’s old cream eyeshadows…). You won’t get the full impact until 2 layers.Shades – ( 3.5 / 5 ) They have an fairly good selection of 10 shades from a white to a dark grey with vibrant blues, oranges, and purples in between. All are shimmery with one matte.Texture – ( 5 / 5 ) Smooth, creamy, applies evenly, no tugging! Only thing is that it dries fairly quickly so it becomes difficult to blend after awhile (I’ve found this with MAC PPs too). Tough as Taupe isn’t as smooth as the others and Too Cool doesn’t have as even of a consistency. Longevity – ( 4 / 5 ) These last a good 6 hours on my oily eyelids without creasing and fading. I like to apply primer on the bottom before applying this to make it last all day long.Packaging – ( 5 / 5 ) Same glass pot as the MAC Paintpot packaging – has the shades written on it and you can see the color through the pot. They don’t dry out as easily as other drugstore cream eyeshadows in plastic casing..Overall – ( 5 / 5 ) Love these! They work just as well as MAC Paintpots do (if you don’t have severely oily eyelids) but for less than half the price. I would get more but the other colors don’t interest me. No guilty splurges here 🙂  Repurchase? Definitely- they need to come out with more flesh toned/neutral colors and we’re all set!The shades you need: Tough as TaupeBad to the Bronze

1) Too Cool
(shimmery silvery white) Has a bit of a metallic finish to it but works to brighten up the pigmentation of powder eye shadows.Too Cool, Bold Gold, Bad to the Bronze, Tough as Taupe

2) Bold Gold (shimmery warm antique gold) Gorgeous shade for an everyday neutral or bronze look.
3) Tough as Taupe (matte grey taupe)– Most pigmented and smooth of the bunch and my favorite!
4) Bad to the Bronze (shimmery warm medium brown) It doesn’t apply as smoothly as the other tattoo eye shadows but it lasts the longest.
