Lime Crime – Magic Eye Dusts review – Glam Radar

I’ve returned to the second half of my Lime Crime posts! Apologies for the delay, I got a little side-tracked there. A few days back I reviewed Lime Crime’s Lipsticks and now I’m going to share the other part of the Lime Crime range with you: Magic Eye Dusts.lime-crime-e28093-magic-dust-1

These little pots of loose eyeshadow are meant to be super bright and heavily pigmented. They range contains 16 shades of shimmery goodness, varying form the palest white to bright purples and greens. Each pot is adorned with a silver unicorn (of course!) and the jars contain a sifter for controlled application.lime-crime-e28093-magic-dust-review-1lime-crime-e28093-magic-eye-dusts-review-2

(L-R: Cupcake Thief, Twilight & Medusa)

Cupcake Thief: Soft pink with pale pink sparkles, for the princess in you.

Cupcake Thief walks the fine line between pink and peach, it’s warm and soft in the base but shimmers with a brighter pink sparkle. It is LOVELY! Just the perfect shade for a light wash of colour or beautiful as a complimentary highlight to almost any shade. It also looks amazing as a cheekbone highlighter, so don’t be afraid to sprinkle some there either.

Twilight: Soft lavender-purple with twinkles of violet. Imagine the color of the sky at twilight, if it were encrusted with amethysts – that’s the exact color of our eyeshadow. If you are looking for something subtle yet fanciful, Twilight is for you.

A gorgeous powdery lavender-blue packed with fine pink and violet sparkles. This really is another magical, whimsical shade! It’s not as pigmented as I’d hope and requires a few layers to really pop but once it does the effect is stunning. The sparkles stay on well also, minimising the fallout you experience with some sparkly dusts.

Medusa: Intense shimmer black with turquoise star bursts shining through. Essential for a smokey eye look. Works well as eyeliner when applied wet with a thin brush.

A VERY pigmented blackened teal with turquoise shimmer. This is highly, highly pigmented…and it stains like crazy. I had a bluish mark on my arm from the base colour, even after cleaning my arm. It makes a great liner but I have to say the sparkles don’t show anywhere near as much once this shade is blended as it does in the swatch. I was a bit disappointed with this one and I much prefer Mac’s Deep Blue Green.

Overall I loved Twilight and Cupcake Thief, Medusa was just OK. The three shades are very wearable and great quality, although Cupcake Thief and Twilight were not quite as pigmented as I’d thought they would be. The Magic Eye Dusts work best with a primer underneath as well.

The delightful little pots of colour retail in the US for $14 and you can find them in Australia for a mere extra 50 cents at MakeupNet, again fantastic to see we’re getting a good conversion on the price! The range houses a few more lovely looking shade such as mirror mirror (reflective silver), Siren (metallic red) and Dragon’s Scale (an unusual mix of brown, blue and silver.) As with the lipsticks the swatches are very good (swatched on a real eye as opposed to a digital swatch) so you can get a fairly good idea of what you’re going to end up with!
