Hissyfit Saving Face, Just Not My Face Review – Glam Radar

Sometimes in TK Maxx you get lucky. Most of the products in there have had a thousand grimy paws in them but occasionally you come across a bargain that is still sealed and hygienic. Here is my review of Hissyfit Saving Face, Just Not My Face !

An anti ageing foundation with SPF 50+ that retails for £23 but reduced to £4.99? And in a light shade? Well I thought all my Christmas’s had come at once! Yet I featured this in a haul what feels like a thousand years ago and am only now getting round to reviewing it. Hmm…

The squeezey tube makes me instantly think of it as more of a tinted moisturiser than a foundation. I’m not a fan of the brown however I do like these kinds of tubes as they are hygienic and allow you to dispense as much or as little as you need. The product itself has a faint fresh scent that fades quickly. The texture is very thick, think Stila Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser thick. I find that it needs the heat from your fingers to get it to blend in. A brush just doesn’t move it without a fight. The coverage is fairly light too reinforcing my perception of this as more of a tinted moisturiser than a foundation.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love that it is SPF50. The texture doesn’t bother me as it means that it is more forgiving on my oily bits than some similar products which can leave me looking like a chip pan. I haven’t worn it enough to comment on any anti ageing benefits that it claims to have. The reason for this is simple. Light my arse! This is so dark on my skin that even when I have just used fake tan it looks like I’m applying mud to my face a la Rambo. It looks ridiculous. The swatch makes it looks lighter than it is. In reality it is several shades darker.

I have kept it as I use this interchangeably with my Stila Oil Free tinted Moisturiser (incidentally in the shade Medium which whilst still too dark is lighter than this!) to mix with my normal foundation when I have been fake tanning. If you have a medium skin tone and like a light coverage then go for it. The high SPF without being greasy is quite an achievement but the shade name ‘Light’ is more than a little misleading. I should be fair and say that on their website there are 3 lighter shades available so the limited range at TK Maxx is to blame for this.
