Coastal Scents Go Palette in ‘Cairo’ Review – Glam Radar

by Maria · August 14, 2014

Today I wanted to bring you another review – this time of Coastal Scents’ Go Palette in ‘Cairo’!If you are unfamiliar with Coastal Scents, they are an online cosmetics retailer (link to the site is directly under my blog’s banner!), who are most famous for their variety of makeup palettes. They sell the famous 88 color palettes in a wide variety of styles and shades.

This season Coastal Scents released an entire line of “Go Palettes”, small compact palettes packed with twelve shades each. Each palette is named after a city (Cairo, Egypt), and each with their own combination of colors. The reason why I waited a bit to do this review is because these palettes are so incredibly affordable at only $8.95 a piece, that they make perfect gifts for friends or even as stocking stuffers.

1-go-palettes The packaging of the Go Palettes is an extremely durable black plastic. I love the Go Palette logo with the globe, I think it’s just so appropriate and unique. Each Palette has the city name on the front, whether it be Cairo or London or which ever you purchase! 2-cairo-go-palettes For a size comparison, here is the Go Palette next to my iPhone 4. As you can see, it is a little bit wider than the iPhone, but a little over half it’s length. This size makes it absolutely perfect for a small gift. What I love most about the size of these palettes is that they don’t take up a lot of space in my collection. As you know, I recently condensed my storage down from the ten drawer cart to the clear cube, and it’s so annoying when I have to cram gigantic palettes into the drawers. I also am not a fan of all the extra “fluff” in palettes. Does the Urban Decay Loves NYC palette really have to be that large?! 3-the-inside-of-the-palette If you have any of the Coastal Scents palettes, specifically the 88 color palettes, the size of each shade is the same as it is in those. Each shade is about the size of a dime, which makes the amount of product small, but you’re getting 12 shadows for $9, which is a bargain all on its own. The palette also comes with a full size mirror which makes it even more travel friendly. The reason why I chose Cairo is because I am a sucker for neutral shades, and this palette seems to have every color I would want to take with me on a trip. Instead of carrying my huge MAC palettes, or a bunch of single eye shadows that could possibly break in transit, I can carry this small palette with everything I need. 4-go-palettes-by-cairo 5-go-palettes-swatches As you can see by the swatches, some of the colors are beautifully pigmented, however some are a little less pigmented than I would’ve hoped. The white highlight shade that comes first in the palette is barely pigmented. I really dug my finger in the pan, and the swatch barely paid off. However, that and the light tan shade (9th swatch from the left) are the only disappointments. The others are beyond stunning.Overall, I would definitely recommend these palettes to everyone. I am eager to try a couple more myself! They are great for the price, and also a great addition to anyone’s collection.

Will you be trying out any of the Coastal Scents Go Palettes?
