ELF Studio Blushes Review, Swatches – Glam Radar

by Jane · March 29, 2015

I’m a blush fanatic, collector, hoarder, whichever word you choose to use — I love blushes. This week’s review is on the ELF Studio Blushes. They look like NARS blushes from the packaging but how do they compare?  elf-studio-blushes-review-swatches-500x281-1 ELF Studio Blushes retail for $3 on eyeslipsface.com, Kmart, and Target. They are part of the ELF Studio line so they are very affordable. They contain 2.75 g of product which is on the smaller side(WnW Color Icon Blushes are $3 for 4g, MAC Blushes $20 for 6g). The colors I have: Peachy Keen, Tickled Pink, Mellow Mauve, Candid Coral, Berry Merry, Blushing Rose PIGMENTATION: 3/5
TEXTURE: 3.5/5
LONGEVITY: 3.5/5
OVERALL: 3.5/5 THE GOOD:

  • Sturdy Packaging
  • Affordable
  • Finely milled
  • Doesn’t need light hand

THE BAD:

  • Chalky
  • Fades after 4hrs
  • Not pigmented

Bottom Line: If you’re fair or fair-medium then you’ll love these as they don’t require a light hand. If you’re medium-dark (NC35+) then half of these won’t show up on you as a blush.

Pigmentation – ( 3 / 5 ) You need to build these blushes up with the lightest colors being the sheerest (Peachy Keen and Tickled Pink need 3-4 swipes) and the darkest colors being the most pigmented (Blushing Rose and Berry Merry needs 1-2 swipes.). Shades – ( 3 / 5 ) There are 9 shades in this line from a highlighter color to some peaches and pinks. I would like to see more mattes. Most of these are sheertone shimmers or shimmery. Texture – ( 3.5 / 5 ) They have minimal fallout which is generally a good thing but not when the blushes are not very pigmented. The lighter colors need a heavy hand. Longevity – ( 3.5 / 5 ) They last a good 3-4 hours on me. After 4 hours, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing blush. Overall – ( 3.5 / 5 ) I think they’re mostly decent to good for the price. The better ones are Berry Merry, Blushing Rose, and Pink Passion which I do not own. These create a natural flush on your cheeks but need retouching.

Repurchase? No. For the price, I’ll pick up WetnWild, NYX, or La Femme blushes instead.

Swatched with a heavy hand.

(L-R) Peachy Keen, Tickled Pink, Mellow Mauve, Candid Coral, Berry Merry, Blushing Rose 1) Peachy Keen (sheer peach with gold shimmer)– You need a heavy hand to get this to show up but it adds a nice barely there flush with golden shimmers. 2) Tickled Pink (matte warm pink)– The least pigmented blush of the bunch and also fades away within hours. 3) Mellow Mauve (rosy pink with purple shimmer)– Very natural looking everyday blush. 4) Candid Coral (peachy pink with gold shimmer)– A good dupe for NARS Deep Throat. 5) Berry Merry  (dusty rose with gold shimmer)– The most pigmented out of the bunch. Also gives a nice rosy glow. My favorite in this line. 6) Blushing Rose (plummy pink with gold shimmer)– Another natural looking blush that needs only a couple swipes. elf-studio-blushes-peachy-keen-500x282-1 elf-studio-blushes-candid-coral-500x282-1 elf-studio-blushes-tickled-pink-500x282-1 elf-studio-blushes-mellow-mauve-500x282-1 elf-studio-blushes-blushing-rose-500x282-1 elf-studio-blushes-berry-merry-500x282-1 Have you tried these out?
