Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation: Review, Application, Swatches – Glam Radar

The Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation (super long name) claims to integrate the “lasting power of primer, coverage of a concealer, and blendability of a foundation in one. Shine-free.” Bold claims but what’s even better is that it’s all true. Granted I don’t have oily skin or am sitting out in the blazing sun but on my combination skin in an overheated apartment, this lasts well past the 9am-5pm claim. After wearing this for 10 hours without a powder on top, the foundation still looks freshly applied and for the most part, shine-free.

covergirl-outlast-stay-fabulous-3-in-1-foundation-500x236-1 Now I know what you’re thinking – does it have a heavy formula or feel tight on the skin? Does it look cakey, cling to dry patches, or accentuate fine lines? Not at all! I’ve read reviews where this happens on dry skin but for those with combination to oily skin, this foundation is the best long wearing foundation I’ve ever tried (and for $10 too)! It feels natural on the skin and looks as natural as a matte finish foundation can look. It blends seamlessly like a primer, dries to a silky finish that doesn’t need to be set, and has a medium-buildable coverage.

The only thing that prevents me from reaching for it more often is its lack of shades. I can’t find a good shade for my NC25-30 skintone so I have to mix 832 with 842. This foundation oxidizes 1-2 shades so be sure to pick one a bit lighter than your skintone.

Comparisons: The Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation is fuller coverage, thicker in consistency, has a semi-matte finish, and gets a shiny after 6-7 hours. The MAC Pro Longwear foundation wears a few hours longer but clings to the skin after 6 hours. The Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation has a less matte finish looking finish and gets shiny after 6-7 hours. The MUFE Mat Velvet + is extremely similar to this foundation but a bit thicker in consistency.
overview

                                    Price: ~$10 at drugstores
                                    Pigmentation: Medium-builable matte finish

                                    Texture: Thin, smooth, blendable

Pros: Good coverage, shine free, long wearing (10+ hours), lightweight, blendable
Cons: Lack of shades, completely matte finish, oxidizes, slight flashback

Overall: A/A+, It’s the best long wearing drugstore foundation I’ve ever tried
and the quality matches that of higher end foundations. I would pay $40 for this if I
had to and I’m even happier that I don’t. It’s super long wearing but looks and feels
so natural due to its primer like qualities. It’s extremely comparable to the MUFE
Mat Velvet + but with a smaller shade selection. Be careful of the slight flashback
and the oxidation with this foundation.
