Cheap alternatives to designer products | Glam Radar

Like most make-up lovers I have a long wish list of expensive products I hope to one day add to my collection. Unfortunately I can’t go out and splurge on these all in one go, so while I wait for the day I can afford to buy designer brands every day of the week, I have become the queen of the thrifty alternative. In fact I’d say I’m confident that if you fill your make-up bag with the inexpensive options below then you can have a make-up collection to rival any designer one, and all for under £25.

Flawless skin

My most recent find is one of my best yet. I have long lusted after MAC’s strobe cream after hearing that many a celebrity uses it for a flawless finish. But at over £20 for a small tube it’s just not something I can justify. But last year along came Garnier’s BB (beauty balm) and as far as I’m concerned it’s perhaps even better than MAC’s more expensive cream. Plus at £9.99 it’s perfectly affordable.

Sculpted cheekbones

I am also a fan of highlighted cheekbones and often wander past Benefit’s High Beam (£18.50) and want a bottle for myself. Then I found E.L.F. products online, it’s short for Eyes. Lips. Face. and their range is fantastic for those looking to save the pennies. Their shimmering facial whip is perfect for highlighting your cheekbones and at just £1.50 it’s a complete steal. It also comes in a range of shades so you can pick the one to suit your skin tone.

Powder perfection

When it comes to pressed powders there’s no ends of designer brands that do miracle versions and I would love them al. Until I can afford them I swear by Boots Natural Collection’s pressed powder (£1.99).

Splash of colour

Another loved-from-afar product for me is MAC’s endless bright eye shadows; I love the crazy colours and metallic specials. But I never give in because Barry M’s dazzle dusts (£4.59) are a great alternative and look just as funky. Parrot green and winter berry are two of my favourites.

Luscious liner

And finally for all those after this season’s cat eye trend I have found a great alternative to Bobbi Brown’s long wear gel liner (£18.50) – an amazing product that comes with a large price tag. Maybelline’s new lasting drama gel liner (£7.99) is just as good. Try it and see.
