Chanel Le Vernis Blue Satin #461 review – Glam Radar

Chanel Le Vernis Blue Satin #461 review and swatches  . Confession time: I am really, really bad at applying dark nail polish. I will always get it on the skin, flood the cuticle, and it will always be a mess.

I wanted to use Chanel Blue Satin at least once more before I left for London and it seemed like the only way I was ever going to get it to work was by going to a nail salon, polish in hand to pay someone to do it perfectly for me.

I figured while I was at it, I’d take some photos and show you what I was wearing on my nails last week.

By the way – today is the first day of my last week at work! Is anyone else excited? No? Just me? Carry on then…

From memory I bought Blue Satin as part of Chanel’s Spring 2008 offering.  My polish collection was in its infancy at that stage and spending more than $20 on a nail polish was extravagant, but I had a 100% disposable income and hungry credit card so it was an easy purchase.

Now, it’s a different story. I’ve been lusting after Chanel Peridot for a long time (due to swatches byYou’ve Got Nail and the Swatchgirl) but I can’t justify the cost – it’s a source of endless pain for me as you can probably empathise with – or maybe not.

As I mentioned above, I did have the mani done by a professional at a nail salon, and somehow despite that, the polish still bubbled. Annoying! But I’m calling it it “added texture” icon_wink-4

Chanel Blue Satin is a deep, inky navy blue that is a bit – I think – galactic. It’s got lighter blue shimmer through it that you can really only see in the sunlight when you move your hands back and forth. I’m annoyed I didn’t capture it properly but oh well.

What I love most about it is that on an everyday basis, it looks like a standard black polish until you look closer and realise it really has some dimension and colour.

A girl at work made that comment – I was quite pleased someone else had noticed.

Chanel polishes aren’t cheap – at AUD$39.95 for a 13ml bottle, you’ll have to hide the receipt from your other half.

That said, I got 7 days wear out of this before it started chipping. I’m not kidding – SEVEN DAYS – and I took these photos on Day 4. Unheard of!

So, is it worth repurchasing   Chanel Le Vernis Blue Satin  when it runs out? Can I get a hell yeah?
