Bite Beauty Bite Size Discovery Set: Review, Swatches – Glam Radar

In my recent Sephora VIB haul, I had the most requests to review the Bite Beauty Bite Size Discovery Set ($25) sold exclusively on Sephora. I spent the past few days testing the 5 shades but in that time, this has stopped being sold at sephora.com (sadly). You can still check your local Sephora stores or buy their full sized counterparts online.

Interesting fact: “These are forumulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan. Each lipstick mini contains as much resveratrol found in three glasses of red wine. Made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.”

                                 Price: $25 for .26oz, sephora.com                                  Pigmentation: Medium-high                                  Texture: Thin, hydrating, and creamy with a little slip                                  Longevity: 3-5 hours
                                 Pros: Does not feather with time. Lasts relatively long for hydrating lipsticks and fades
                                 evenly. Rich color while looking natural and smooth on lips. Hydrating (applied this on
                                 my dry lips without a lip balm and my lips were still hydrated at the end of wear!).
                                 Doesn’t accentuate any dryness of lips so preparation isn’t needed.
                                 Cons: Slight tendency to settle into lip lines but nothing visibly apparent. Transfers
                                 easily with food. You get a tiny amount of product*. A lot of people complained that
                                 three of the colors looked the same…in the tube maybe. They all look completely
                                 different when applied on the lips with full opacity!
                                 Comparisons: Not as creamy and pigmented as NYX Round lipsticks (transfers less
                                 too). More pigmented and hydrating than MAC Cremesheens. Wears longer than
                                 most creamy formulas of the kind.                                  Best suited for: Those who prefer creamy, hydrating, natural formulas but want rich
                                 color and longevity.
                                 Overall: A-, I’m in love with these lipsticks! They are one of the best cream
                                 formulas I’ve ever tried.

*Note: When I first received these, I wanted to return back to Sephora immediately. These lipsticks are minuscule and I felt like I was ripped off. However, when you look at the amount you receive, 2.5 of these lipsticks = 1 full sized Bite Beauty lipstick or similarly, this set of 5 small lipsticks = 2 full sized lipsticks, a $50 value for the kit.

Look at how tiny these are! 1) Retsina (pinky mauve nude) – Pinker when sheer; more mauve when opaque. It wore for a good 3 hours. 2) Musk (medium rose) – A great everyday shade; wears for 3-4 hours. 3) Shiraz (medium plum) – A bold plum. Perfect for the fall/winter. Lasts 4-5 hours. 4) Fig (medium warm pink) – My favorite shade of the bunch. Lasts 4-5 hours. 5) Pomegranate (true red) – A gorgeous true red. Application wasn’t the easiest but lasts 4-5 hours. I was scared the whole time that it’d go all over my face because of its creaminess!
