Benefit’s Bella Bamba of the Ball – Glam Radar

by Maria · September 30, 2014

It was three months ago to the day that I last blogged! The reason I’ve been MIA for so long is because I needed to concentrate on university work as I was in my third, final and most important year. I’m pleased to say it has all paid off as I’ll be graduating next month with a 2:1!! I’ve got a whole host of blog posts written and lined up so it’s official…I’m back to blogging as of now!

I’m going to straight away put it out there that I love Benefit boxed powders. It’s a combination of their cute unique packaging, clever names, sweet scents and spot on shades that seem to draw me in. Bella Bamba is the newest addition to my collection (not sure Coralista and Sugarbomb quite count as a collection…). Described as a watermelon pink laced with shimmering gold undertones, it sounds completely different to any of its boxed powder counterparts, and when swatched it is clear to see it is. It is brighter, pinker and much more pigmented than any of the other boxed blushes I’ve tried.

Bella Bamba was the first boxed powder to be released with the new and improved packaging. A simple flip top lid has replaced the old, two part boxes and Benefit have now included a very handy mirror onto the underside of the lid, making touch ups and application a lot more easy and convenient. I don’t think there was a single complaint from us when we knew mirrors were going to be a new addition to the packaging. The boxes are also a little smaller than the old design, however this also means a significant decrease in product size. The newly packaged boxed powders weigh 8g, whereas the old designs weighed 12g. That’s a third less of the weight of the previous boxed powders and a lot less product than before. Boo!

Marketed as a “3D blush”, Bella Bamba claims to “amplify cheekbones and create the illusion of sculpted features.” I’m not entirely sold on the 3D concept, however nonetheless I find Bella Bamba to be completely unique from any other shade Benefit has produced and a beautiful blush in it’s own right. I’ve heard some people paralleling it to Coralista, however as the swatches above show, they are poles apart. In the pan Bella Bamba looks very similar to Deep Throat by NARS, however once swatches they can instantly be told apart. Alongside Coralista, Bella Bamba is definitely next in line for the best Benefit boxed blush award! Wow, try saying that after you’ve had a few…
