Aquataenia palette Review | Glam Radar
i think it’s cool that the palettes look like those watercolour palettes i used to have as a kid
then let’s move on to some…
Swatches!!!
(the swatches above are from Lime Crime website so you can compare them and my swatches better this will come handy :)!)
Nautilus Prime:
“blurple”
i decided to swatch these shadows on my eyes again
this is one of my favourites of the shadows. it’s a lovely blue with a bit of a purple tone to it. the shimmer isn’t overwhelming either which i personally like. all of these shades would benefit a lot from something like Pixie Epoxy to enhance the shade and shimmer but i used UD PP since everyone doesn’t have PE.
i think this shade is slightly different from the swatch pic on Lime Crimes site (see the swatch above) which in my opinion isn’t a good thing. i LOVE the shade don’t get me wrong but someone else might have gotten dissappointed when the shades aren’t exact match.this one is a lot lighter in my opinion.
all of these shades are well pigmented and buttery-soft to apply as all LC eyeshadows are but in my opinion the matte shades are a bit more pigmented than the shadows in this shimmery palette.
but, it’s a lovely shimmery blue
Coral Of The Story
“true coral”
this shade was one of the shades i was most excited about. never owned a coral eyeshadow before :)!! it is also pigmented, easy to apply, lovely shimmer (not too much, not too little) but again i notice a slight difference between the swatch on the website and the actual shade. the LC swatch shows a more orange tone and mine shows a more pinkish tone. love this colour again, it just wasn’t exactly as advertised. i know different primers, different cameras, different everything can do that but still. this one still is a pretty unique shade in my opinion and i love it as a blush :)! i’ve ditched my regular blushes and use only this shadow because it looks so fresh and gives a bit of lovely shimmer on the cheeks too :).
a beautiful pinkish coral shade with shimmer :).
Seahorse Discourse
“tropical green”
this one i feel is the most different from the website swatch. judging from the LC swatch i was expecting a lemony yellow with lime-green tones but instead this is green. the description “tropical green” is very accurate but i was expecting a similar shade to the swatch since descriptions can be misleading. if you ask 10 people to point a tropical green colour i bet they’ll be all different so i thought the swatch would more accurate. i already own a very similar shade to this one, Sugarpill Acidberry, so i was a bit dissappointed with this being totally different from the swatch. i still do love this shade, it’s just that it was the one i was most excited about and turned out it was different than i thought it would be.
it has a good pigmentation and good quality and otherwise i have no complaints again but i personally wouldn’t recognise their swatch and my swatch to be the same eyeshadow.
…but anyways, it’s a pretty shimmery tropical green
Pearl-ple
“pearlescent lilac“
i love this shade :)!! i didn’t expect to like it as much as i do but it’s one of my favourites of the bunch along with the two blues :). also this one isn’t that different from the LC swatch in my opinion :).
again: great pigmentation, easy to apply, overall good eyeshadow and a gorgeous shade of lilac :). love it :)!!
Atlanteal
“seafoam blue/green”
i think this one is my favourite shade :)! it is exactly as advertised, very very pigmented and just overall amazing :). a beautiful seafoam blue with just the right amount of shimmer :).
nothing bad to say about this one, i love it :)!!
overall i am happy with this palette and will be using it a lot. the shadows are all good quality and i would definitely recommend this but i was a bit dissappointed that some of the shades didn’t match the LC swatches. i know there are a million reasons for that like different monitors, primers, skin-tone, camera and just the fact that another girls blue might be another girls purple.
the descriptions on the website are very accurate in my opinion so basically i should have known to expect a green, not a yellow, but i couldn’t help the slight dissappointment there.
i’ll give this palette a 4/5 and that’s only because of the shade differences. otherwise it’s a good purchase in my opinion and there’s nothing else wrong with it.
(i blurred the skin around my eyes and adjusted some sharpness in these pics. i didn’t touch up or change the shade of the eyeshadows. i used Urban Decay Primer Potion as a primer.)
Thanks for reading :)!!
