Let me begin by saying that I am not a huge fan of brownies. I prefer other treats like ice cream, donuts, and cupcakes. But I was determined to find a brownie that would knock my socks off, I mean literally knock my socks off. So I made these brownies two weeks ago and I have to say that after the first bite I uttered the words “Oh my God” and I passed out into a glorious sugar coma. I mean these brownies were luscious, gratifying, melt in your mouth, rich and savory. I think my body had an out-of-body experience but I got myself together and finished the rest of the brownie. I gave some away to my family members but the best response I got was from my boyfriends mom. I can’t say what she told me but lets just say she REALLY enjoyed it. Her feedback made my day she is hilarious. Anyways, I made them again this weekend and they were soooooo beautiful and delicious that I thought they deserved their own photo shoot. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the recipe for the brownies. I also dedicate this post to my friend Rachel since she told me yesterday that I need to start posting more fattening foods on my blog. So this ones for you Rach! Also thank you to the Pioneer Woman for this recipe and changing my mind about brownies.
Warning: Side effects to eating these brownies include daydreaming about brownies floating on clouds, tingles of joy in your brain, mouth, and stomach, these brownies are also known to cure depression.
1 box of Duncan Hines Moist German Cake mix
1 can of Evaporated Milk
1 stick of butter, melted
1/2 a cup of chopped pecans
60 whole caramel pieces (take the wraps off people)
Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Powdered Sugar for garnish
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together the cake mix, the melted butter, pecans, and a 1/3 cup of evaporated milk. Mix it very well until it is all combined and divide the mix in the middle to make two separate balls. In a 8×8 baking dish that has been sprayed with non stick spray. Spread on dish one of brownie mix balls onto the bottom of the pan until it has covered the entire bottom. Cook it in the oven for 10 minutes. When it is done take it out and let it cool. In a microwavable safe dish add all the caramels and pour 1/2 a cup of evaporated milk into the bowl. Put it in the microwave for 3 to 4 minutes or until the caramel has melted. Take it out of the microwave and stir the mixture until completely blended. Then pour it on top of the pre cooked brownie mix that you just took out of the oven. Spread it evenly and then add on top the semi sweet chocolate chips. Then get your second piece of brownie mix that you had set aside and place it on top to cover it like a sandwich. Place it back in the oven for 25 minutes. Once it is done take it out and let it cool and then after cover it up and place it in the refrigerator for about three hours. Remove it from the refrigerator and let it reach to room temperature and then cut it into brownie slices. Then pour on top some powdered sugar and indulge in this savory treat.
