Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Translucent Illuminator Review – Glam Radar

My pictures rarely do justice when it comes to product reviews…

And sorry for my wet hair! My hair dryer broke this morning. Like full-on spark and cut-out. ūüôĀ

sonia-kashuk-perfecting-translucent-illuminator-review-500x375-2 Now that I have said those two things, I would like to let you know that I found a drugstore illuminator I would like to point out to you all. If you don’t know, I tried out a cheaper illuminator product from Maybelline a while ago (you can see my review for ithere¬†– Maybelline Touch of Light Luminizing Face Glow) and I was not very happy with the results. It came out of the tube a nice warm bronze color but when I rubbed it in, I didn’t notice much of a difference.

I was¬†disappointed, but decided to hold out to try a different brand later or wait until I could purchase Watt’s Up from Benefit Cosmetics. Turns out I caved early when I saw theSonia Kashuk Perfecting Translucent Illuminator at Target.

This “hybrid cream/gel” product claims to “add subtle color and reflect light to smooth the skin for a fresh and naturally flawless complexion.” You can wear it alone, mix it with your foundation, add on top of your makeup for added highlights, or¬†substitute¬†it for your foundation. I love that it is so versatile!

Also, this long-wearing, 12 hour formula is composed of some really lush ingredients including raspberry stem cell extract and ¬†youth preserving bearberry complex.¬†This brand claims that this potent hydrating illuminator will help “repair and prevent premature aging” and “soothe¬†irritation¬†and inflammation” over continued use.

I can’t speak of the anti-aging promises so much as I have only used it for a bit, and to be honest I wasn’t drawn to this product for the ingredients really. The nice packaging and promise of a warm glow was what sold me. I have my own moisturizer and serum routine I follow already…I just wanted a cream I could put on my cheek bones, high points, and eyelids if I wanted some warmth that didn’t come from a bronzer. It’s slowly¬†becoming¬†Autumn and I would love to capture a dewy glow still!

I have to say this product is really nice. Application wise, it goes on smooth and rubs in well. It doesn’t leave obvious streaks or marks, but instead adds a slightly gold (but not too orange or brown) pearl-like finish. I have used it most often on my eyelids when I don’t wear eyeshadow. It really gives a nice finish and adds some dimension because of ¬†its shine. Also I should mention that it is not going to make you look like you have glitter on, which is good for me. It is just a touch of shine.

Overall it is a great product if you are looking for a cheaper illumnator. I am really loving adding into my makeup routine when I am going for a slightly more dewy-look. The bottle itself is designed well with a nice, sturdy cap with a pump application. You would think looking at the product that it would be a tube application…but don’t be fooled! It is a nice,¬†hygienic¬†pump! Plus, it is really great quality considering the pump bottle is quite large and it is filled with good ingredients.
