Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel review

I haven’t used any Soap & Glory products before but I’ve heard a lot of good things about the brand, and being a sucker for pretty packaging and witty names I guess it was only a matter of time before I caved in and treated myself.

I chose this product because (as I’ve bitched about before) I’m plagued with oily skin which can often result in clogged pores, a permanent ‘sheen’ and troublesome blackheads. According to the box, this product de-cloggs and shrinks pores while soaking up any excess oil in the skin. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it, but did it work?

(Dreadfully sorry for the frightening pic. The boyf said I looked like the Joker!)
Firstly, I think the name is a bit misleading. In fact the idea of a DIY facial peel sounds a bit frightening to me. This is definitely more of a facial wash/mask rather than a peel in my opinion, and it can actually be used as either depending on how long you choose to leave it on for. On the occasions that I’ve used it I’ve opted for a 15 minute deep cleanse. It’s a very light, clay type product with tiny exfoliating beads and unlike other face masks that I’ve used, it didn’t feel heavy, dry or tight on my skin. In fact at one point I forgot I was wearing it. It also had a lovely fresh, soapy smell and rinsed off really easily.
My skin felt tingly clean afterwards and remarkably my pores did actually look a lot smaller. Unfortunately this was only temporary and by the end of the day my skin looked pretty much the same again. I’ve only used it a few times though so maybe if I were to carry on I could see more permanent results?
I paid around £8 for this product which is quite a lot considering it’s only a small pot and given that you’re supposed to use a ‘grape sized dollop’ for each use, it probably wouldn’t last that long. However I did find it a nice, refreshing product to use and the fact that it did what it said it would do (albeit temporarily) quite impressed me. I find that skin care products often lie and thus underwhelm. I’d recommend it to anyone with oily skin because it definitely left mine feeling a lot fresher and clearer – just don’t get all “it’s a miracle, my pores have vanished!” because you probably haven’t seen the back of them just yet!
