hello y’all! so here is my SOAP & GLORY KICK ASS CONCEALER IN MEDIUM review!
Kick Ass Concealer (how awesome is this name) is a concealer kit consisting of 2 concealer shades (a lighter one for the under eye, and darker one for the face) and a setting powder. There are only 2 different variations available at the moment, Light and Medium, and I agonized between the two when I was in store. I thought Lightwould have probably been a little too light for my NC20-25 skin tone so I chose Medium, which turned out to be too dark. I think it is probably best suited for those around NC30, but I may be able to get away with the shades in Summer. Soap & Glory also makes a specific under eye concealer called Trick or Treatment which I like and reviewed a while back (here).
Anyhow the design is pretty awesome, and I love tiny, well thought out, make up kits like these. The compact is made from plastic, but it feels well made and quite sturdy. The pressed translucent powder with a tiny velvet sponge is the first tier one sees when the compact is opened. I don’t typically set my concealer so I don’t have much experience with these type of powders. It seems very finely milled to me and doesn’t make my under eye area look particularly dry. The bottom compartment is where the two concealer shades sit side by side, and there is a small circular mirror on the bottom of the first tier which can be used if applying the product on the go. The concealer on the left is intended for use on the under eye area, and it has a soft, almost mousse like consistency. I had expected it to be much firmer when I was swatching the concealer (there were no testers in store for me to play with) and I almost touched the pan because I pressed so hard! I don’t have exceptionally dark under eye circles, and as I mentioned above the shade is a little too dark for me, but it seems to cover my bags well. I think it is best used on the under eye area after thorough moisturisation because the formula is on the dry side. The concealer on the right is much more in keeping with the standard cream concealers I am more familiar with. As it is intended for general use, it has a much firmer texture than the concealer on the left, but still blends easily on the skin. I use it to conceal redness but I don’t think it is quite opaque enough for stubborn blemishes. Both concealers lasts well on me, and I’m sure if I set them with powder, they would last even longer.
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in medium swatch :
I actually really like this Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer kit, and I will probably pick up the Light version to see whether I can make that work for me. I think the mix of two different concealer textures is a great idea, and I hope Soap & Glory will eventually bring out more shade variations. I always keep concealer in my bag and I would love to be able to swap my boring decanted pot of stick foundation for something cute and practical like this.
