Pantene Sheer Volume Hair Range – review

Pantene Sheer Volume Hair Range

Volume is a big problem for my hair! Unfortunately, I suffer from limp, flat locks which are difficult to mange because they’re oily at the roots and dry on the ends…I call it slpit personality hair.

The last hair review I did was for the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship shampoo and conditioner which resulted in me having hydrated but very shapeless, flat hair. When Pantene sent me the sheer volume range to review, I was very excited at the thought that I might finally get some body happening.Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo & Conditioner

Sadly, this is not a story with a happy ending. After only a few days of use I began to notice that while my hair certainly seemed fuller and bouncier; that I has some very unattractive fuzz going on. My hair became very fly-away and the ends were drying out big time!

My hair actually became more difficult to manage whilst using these products and I noticed that my hair wasn’t as shiny as it used to be. I had to increase my use of treatments (I’ve been continuing to use the Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship hair mask and the Pantene 3 Minute Treatment, which have booth been reviewed previously.)

In short I stopped using this shampoo and conditioner after about 3 weeks and I passed them on to my mother who has very oily hair to see if they work for her. I would only recommend this product to people who have very oily hair and don’t suffer with dry ends. Sadly, this product was a no-go for me.

Pantene Sheer Volume Hairspray
This product was the star of the range for me. I hate hairsprays that are heavy and leave hair feeling sticky but the Sheer Volume spray was airy yet effective. This product lives up to it’s tag line ‘all-day touchable volume’ because it sets hair into position without compromising movement or shine.

It doesn’t make my hair crunchy yet it holds everything into place, this is particularly handy for my new side swept fringe which can have a mind of it’s own! I mainly use this when I’ve parted my hair to keep the part straight and also to spray down any nasty, little fly-away hairs when I’m wearing a ponytail. This is a fantastic hair spray for a natural look and I’ll definitely be buying it again.

Pantene Sheer Volume Mousse
This is a nice, budget mousse which gives a soft amount of hold to hair whilst emphasizing volume and shine. Be warned – a little goes a long way! Like with any mousse if you over-apply you’ll risk having sticky hair.

I can’t say that it held my wave all-day when I wore it but it did a good job of boosting the shape and texture of my hair. I don’t think I love it enough to purchase again but I’m happy to continue using it now.
