NYX Powder Blushes Review, Swatches – Glam Radar
by Jane · March 11, 2015
Blushes are my favorite makeup products because they make people look younger, more friendly, and more approachable. Over the past year I acquired many higher end blushes that I love but few drugstore blushes I love equally as much. Of those that I’ve tried, I’ve found NYX Powder Blushes to be the closest in quality to my favorite blush formulas – they are silky, blendable, and deliver a soft, refined finish. They are pigmented but can easily be sheered down. On me, they last a good 7-8 hours. With the exception of a few shades, these are by far my favorite drugstore power blush formula. The one down side is that it’s a little powdery due to the softness of the power. (In comparison: Wet’n’Wild has more fall out, ELF is stiffer and doesn’t last as long, La Femme is more pigmented but not as blendable and silky). Part 1 Shades: Angel, Mauve, Terracotta, Dusty Rose, Espresso, Amber, Natural, Peach, Summer Peach*, Pinched, Bourgeois Pig, Rose Garden Price: $6 at nyxcosmetics.com, hautelook.com, cherryculture.com
Pigmentation: High Pros: Pigmented, blendable, lasts 8 hours, wide selection of matte, satin, and shimmery
finishes, inexpensive
Cons: A little powdery, filmy packaging so these can be prone to shattering Overall: A, From the texture to the finish (mostly mattes, satins — a drugstore rarity), these
truly match the quality of a higher end blush. (L-R) Angel, Mauve, Terracotta, Dusty Rose, Espresso, Amber
(L-R) Natural, Peach, Summer Peach*, Pinched, Bourgeois Pig, Rose Garden *Summer Peach did not apply as well as the others but is still nice to work with. As promised, this is part two of the NYX Powder Blush swatches . These consist of mainly roses, berries, and tan shades. There are a few shades that I’m missing (Stone, Raisin to name a few) that are still sold on cherryculture.com but no longer on nyxcosmetics.com so I’m guessing they’re getting discontinued. (L-R) Spice, Mocha, Desert Rose, Silky Rose*, Pinky, Red
(L-R) Sand, Copper, Pecan*, Cocoa*, Cinnamon
*Silky Rose gets stiff and difficult to swatch (notice difference between the pan and swatch color). Pecan is similar in color to Copper but Copper has a much better texture. Cocoa was a slight disappointment in that the pan is a rich red brown but the swatch doesn’t even come close.
