Nail Care tips – Glam Radar

I don’t know about you guys, but I rarely see my nails completely in the nude for more than five minutes at a time in-between mani’s but your nails could be revealing more to you about your health than you know! A healthy nail bed should not have ridges or grooves, and should look a nice overall pinkish tone without any discolouration. I came across a fabulous article the other day on tell tale signs that all is not as it should be inside your little hot bod, so I have to share the most common ones with you! Brittleness. “brittle nail syndrome” Is a real condition that is not uncommon amongst us polish addicts! This condition is usually spurred on by an iron deficiency so try eating more dark leafy green veggies and eggs. Brittle nails are also the result of excessive exposure to water, so get someone else to do the washing up tonight. Yellowish. Most of the time, yellow nails are simply the result of wearing dark nail polish for long periods of time without a proper base coat. Strip the lacquer off and let them soak up that Vitamin D. Peeling. According to WebMD, your nail plates are “made up of several layers of keratin,” which are sealed together. When hands are routinely exposed to water or even cold, dry air, the top layers of your nails are damaged and the result; peeling! Usually, polish will help seal the layers together until you can grow them out. Using a good hand lotion also helps. Ridges. Surprisingly, ridges are not usually something to be alarmed about. As you age, ridges will grow more prominent. Usually refraining from polish usually does the trick but if you absolutely must must mussssst use a protective base coat and try a ridge filler, I use O.P.I and I can really tell the difference. You learn something new everyday; so eat your veggies and take your vitamins!
