My Make-Up Collection

I’m nosy. I love reading ‘what’s in my bag’ type posts. When a plethora of such posts cropped up on the blogosphere a couple of weeks ago – see end of post for links to a few – I thought I’d share my own make up collection (which is inexplicably large, considering I can only create 3 basic make up looks: bronze/natural, bright lips, and smoky eyes)!

I realised, though, that it’s rather difficult to photograph make-up and these pictures didn’t really turn out how I had hoped. Ah well!

Carmex is my absolute favorite, cannot-live-without product. About 10-12 years ago, I suffered fromincredibly dry and chapped lips. I tried every product I could, and Carmex was the only one that helped! I buy it in bulk and have a tub in every handbag, as well as on my desk, on my dressing table, and all over the house. Luckily I now only need to use it a couple of times a day, but it’s the only lip balm that doesn’t dry my lips out. Carmex now comes in tubes and different flavors, but the original in the tub is the only one that works for me.

I only started wearing lipstick recently, and I love the way your lip color can completely change the way your face looks! These are my favorite shades.
1: Chanel no. 65 Fire – I get lots of questions about this lipstick whenever I wear it. It’s my favorite shade of bright red!
2: Benefit On the Sly – a perfect daytime lipstick. It’s a very natural pink and goes with everything.
3: Benefit Label Lover – I wear this when I want a bronze look. I really don’t like glittery lipsticks, but luckily this only looks glittery in the tube, not on your lips!
4: Make Up Store Mandy – I adore this lipstick. It’s so versatile – if you dab a little bit on your lips, it gives you a light tinted look, or you can go for a full-on bright pink look as well. It’s the only lipstick I’ve used that lasts absolutely all day! It can be a bit drying, though, so I apply Carmex a couple of times throughout the day on top of the lipstick.
5: Revlon 080 Coral – I was dying for a coral/orange shade and this one is perfect! It’s quite light, so it doesn’t look too unnatural.

1: MAC 190 Foundation brush – I use this brush to apply both foundation and tinted moisturizer and I find it work a lot better than cosmetic sponges.
2: i.d. Bare Escentuals Flawless Face brush – for blush.
3: i.d. bareMinerals Warmth – I use this every single day. I absolutely love it. It’s a bronzer/blush that works with every skin tone and can be built up to create either a natural look or a beach babe ultra bronze look.
4: i.d. bareMinerals Tinted Mineral Veil – this makes your face look flawless. I wear it on top of bare skin, on top of tinted moisturizer, or on top of foundation. It’s a great powder and definitely doesn’t dry my skin out.
5: Benefit Dr. Feel Good – I don’t use this very often, but sometimes wear it as a base to make my make-up go on more evenly.
6: Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch – as above, I use this rarely but sometimes wear it under make-up.
7: Benefit Erase Paste in Deep, no. 3: another product that I use every single day. It’s great for covering up under-eye circles!
8: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Caramel: I bought this on recommendation from Dena. Her skin always looks flawless and radiant! I love this tinted moisturizer – it’s great for daytime wear.
9: MAC 182 brush – I use this to apply the mineral veil.
10: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in 048 Sun Beige: I don’t wear foundation very often, but when I do, this one is perfect. It’s a little bit heavy, so I prefer to wear it for special events, but looks very natural when worn.
11: Benefit YouRebel: I think this was the very first product I bought for my face – I didn’t wear anything on my skin till I was about 19. This is my favorite tinted moisturizer and one tube lasts ages.
12: Witch Hazel concealer: used to conceal pimples.
